got a call from this number. attempted to leave a mrssage but none was left.

I didn't recognize this number so I let it go to voice mail. There was no MSG.

Phone call came in, didn't know number, let it ring to voicemail, no message, called back and voicemail from a marketing company regarding my local newpaper.

very annoying left no message and no response.

It's like picking a scab.  If you answer unknown numbers it will continue to grow by sending your phone number to other unscrupulous marketers.

I answered the call from this number and the person was calling about renewing my local paper subscription (sacramento bee). They offered me great promo rate but wanted me to pay upfront. I asked if they could just bill me because I don't want to give my payment infon but he said they could not. Though the person knows about my name & address I didn't renew my subscription. I will have to call sacbee myself since on their website they have a different toll free number. I tried calling the same number back but there was no sound at all.

Never a message, just a harassing call.  Don't even answer it.  Blocked the number.  Seems like no way to stop.  Even the DNC list doesn't work as I doubt  if it is even checked.  Who would want to do business with a company/person so rude as the caller from 888-980-5835?

Called me 13 times in the last 6 weeks (ignored it most everytime). When I finally called them back I got a machine and followed instructions to have my number removed from their list, but then got another call today. Had to have my provider block their calls. So annoying.

Recd a call just now, she said she was with the Herald News.  I asked for my # to be removed from their list, was told it'll be 30 days, guess we will see if that happens.

I had same experience. I did not pick it up, but like Jen, I suspect it's the Sacramento Bee newspaper. I cancelled it about 2 weeks ago after being a 40 year subscriber. (Economic reasons).. I guess they go nuclear in trying to retain subscribers. This is sooo NOT the tactic.

I have received hangup calls on my mobile phone from this number as well as the other numbers listed below. Writers to this website have identified these numbers as being associated with the Sacramento Bee. That information correlates with my situation since I began receiving these calls about the time I switched from a daily  Bee subscription to to a Sunday only subscription. And, later I unsubscribed because of the change in the Sacramento's be vacation hold policy.

I was able to locate a real person with the Sacramento (California) Bee to help me deal with this problem. (I located him through this website: http://gethuman.com)

The person I dealt with at the Bee was helpful and efficient and I received an email recently confirming actions were being taken. It remains to be seen if those will be effective since I have received one further 10 pm hangup call since receiving an email telling me of the Bee's remedial actions. The email, in pertinent portion states as follows:

"I apologize that the people involved with this soliciting are not following the rules, I have sent this email to the person in charge of telemarketers, they will be reprimanded and you should no longer receive any phone calls from them."

I don't know how much control the Bee has over its telemarketers since, even if I had a continuing business relationship with the Sacramento Bee, there telemarketers must pick up any call they have made within two seconds to avoid it being hangup call-obviously they are not doing that. They can also not call after 9 PM which they have done. Therefore, I have blocked those numbers on my Verizon account and have listed my mobile phone number with the national Do Not Call listing.

SacBee telemarketer has called several times over the past couple of weeks. Finally answered the call yesterday and they were pushing an offer to change my weekend subscription to daily delivery. I said "No Thanks" and hung up. They called back again today. I sent an email to Customer Service at custsvcs@sacbee.com and asked to be removed from call list or I would cancel my subscription.

get a call from this number at least once a week, but no message.    

how we stop these companies/people from this harrassment?   didn't we put our numbers on a do-not-call list for this very reason?


I haven't answered when I see the number because I had heard somewhere, that after so many attempts with no answer/response, this automated service will stop trying to contact the number.

These people keep calling and I am on limited calling plan. If I call back it is not a working number.

Just answer the call and keep pushing the pound button..it will take u off their list....
