Send Tax money for winnings from check enclosed in letter and deposited to your account, wind up legally responsible for money transferred and liability for cashing/deposit of bogus check...

I JUST RECEIVED A CHECK FOR $4,995.00 ALONG WITH A LETTER STATING
"PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THIS CHECK UNTIL YOU CALL 1-905-781-2729"

Received a check in the mail and was given a number to call. Called the number 905-781-2729 and was told to cash the check and call back for tax info. I called the better Better Business Bureau, and they said this was a scam. If you cash this check, you can be reliable for the funds after the check bounces. But you will be responsible for the returned check fees. Plus I was advised that cashing this check, could give the criminals access to my account. If you receive any check from Gold Star Securities Inc. out of Midland, Ontario, the Better Business Bureau would like you to call 1-888-495-8501. We need to stop these foreign criminals, and show the that you cannot take advantage of us Americans any longer.

When I looked up the bank address and found a post office box, I knew something wasn't right. How in the world did they get our info, anyway???

When I saw the address was a P.O.Box # that is all I needed to know.Did they won't you to cash the check then send the tax? If so then are they  using the cashing of the check to get access to you account.When I 1st got this I thougt they were going to ask for the so called tax 1st.Then you could cash the check. Because if they can get access to your account when you cash this check can't anyone who's check you cash get that same access.

I didnt receive a call but a letter from Gold Star Securities Inc located in St. Midland, Ontario. This letter came in a regular white enevlope. The letter advised me I also WON $250,000.00 along with a check $4995.00 and states for me to PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THIS CHECK UNTIL YOU CALL. The number provide was 1905-783-2559.

I knew it was a scam from the beginning due to I do not even know where I would have entered into this contest in the first place. I am going to contact the better business buearu tomorrow to report this SCAM. Thanks for everone reporting this scam!

I received the same check for $4995.00. I'm glad the BBB is on top of this scam and that all who have reported on this website has sense enough
to check it out.

I got the letter. FYI if you try to cash the check at a check cashing place you can be arrested and charged with theft for cashing a bad check. it happened to a young girl in college that didn't know it was a scam and her parents had to pay a lot of money to get the charges dropped.
You can also report a complaint against the company by going to the web site  www.recol.ca

I just received the same letter in the mail stating i won i was wondering was this for real or not, the check looks legit. I immediately went on line to look up the company name and address, I also looked up the phone number and this is how i got to these responses. I am so happy I did this because the check really looks real. I will call the bbb my self to report this kind of scam, because it may save someone who may not take the time to investigate.

I received a letter from Gold Star Securities
saying that<, I was the winner of 245,0005,00 Dollars and they sent me a check saying to Deposit it to my bank and to then call them back immediately.When I deposited the check a woman picked up the phone and told me to go to a Western Union or Money gram and to ask for Mr. Kenneth Billings and then pay them 2,995.00 and Fed.Ex would be sending me the remainder of the 245,005,00 very soon.

I just received a check also from Gold star securities Inc. for 4,995.00, they must think we are all a bunch of idiots, I tried calling the 905-783-1975 number to tell them just what I think of their little scheme, no one answered the phone but I will keep trying they need to know that people are on to them, I will also call the better business bureau in Canada they are closed right now, always remember if anyone asks you to send any money western union or moneygram where it cannot be traced it most likely is a scam, also if it seems to good to be true it probably is.

better Better Business Bureau. my letter gave the number 1-416-834-0324 to call. I agree with you too good to be truth.

I got this letter, also. Besides it being ridiculous to expect something from out of the blue, the grammar was awful, the letter head clearly bogus, and does anyone think that if a company was awarding winnings of this size they it would address the leter "Sir/Madam"?
