Called today asking for someone who had our phone number a long time ago. We've had our number for more than 5 years. I have spoken with someone with a similar phone number in 2014 but they claim they just received the account this month. When I asked for a fax number to send them a letter verifying our phone number, the man hung up on me. I called back and the woman kept reassuring me "the number has been taken out of our system". I kept pressing to get a company fax number and company email address and the woman said she "couldn't do that without verifying". She kept mentioning the man's name they were trying to contact and I further explained that she had the wrong number and I just wanted to send them a letter stating as such. She kept dodging around and I threatened to contact the BBB, the FTC and the state attorney general's office if she didn't give me the information. She transferred me to her supervisor and he too dodged around when I asked for the company fax number and company email address. Finally, after I threatened AGAIN to contact the above agencies and an attorney, he gave me the information.
