- Call type: Non-profit organization
- Snow| 3 repliesThis phone number is calling to do fund raising for the New York State Fraternal Order of Police. I have called the number. It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the FOP. Also, there’s information on www.nysfop.com, you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
The FOP is doing a lot of really great things for New York police officers and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good.- Caller: New York State Fraternal Order of Police
- Snow replies to SnowSorry the correct website is www.nysfop.org
- Annoyed in NYI'm not sure I understand the purpose (or lack thereof) of being on a "do not call registry" if people are still able to call and try to solicit donations???
- Caller: NYS Fraternal Order of Police
- Call type: Telemarketer
- DubiousAccording to an article on the allbusiness site, only 12% of the money raised by the phone solicitors for the NY Fraternal Order of Police actually GOES to that organization. 88% of the money goes to OVERHEAD!
So all you are doing by giving these people money is paying for the telemarketers to call you for yet more donations.
I have no idea exactly what the NYSFOP does that is worthwhile, but I know that most of the charities that use direct phone calling get very little back from those campaigns. Some get even less than 12%.
If you think a charity does good work, check for how much of their money goes to fundraising and education, as compared to actual programs. I mention education because many of the charities count their fundraising letters as part of an 'education program' to help minimize their overhead figures.- Call type: Non-profit organization
- HKLGuy called asking for a Stephen (person who had our phone nr before us) and I am like, you have the wrong number, there is no Stephen here. And he was like, 'ok, so sorry, bye' and never addressed himself of where he was calling from. Lucky I have caller i.d. on our tv so I can see who's calling.

- Yasgur replies to SnowBull! If the Fraternal Order of Police needs funding, let them get it from their membership, in the same manner as the VFW, American Legion and NRA. They're a special interest group and serve the interest of their members and no one else. To solicit money from the general public is the height of hubris.
- TonyI used to work for the NY FOP fundraising company (we were paid solicitors by a company called CDG management) andI can tell you first hand this place is a complete scam, preying on the weak and the sick. We were told to make 500+ calls a day and intimidate and basically beg for pledges from these people, and it broke my heart that the only people who would mainly were old and sick people, sometimes giving up a months medication to chip in their yearly 10 dollar donation. The truth it at most 15% of the donation goes to the FOP lodge, the rest of it lines the crooks pockets who run it. I heard the president of CDG recently bought himself a 7 million dollar estate with the profits stolen from people who just wanted to do some good.
Another trick is, if you donate to the FOP, about a week or two later they will put you on the PBA and the firemans association call lists, so that they try to get triple the donation from you before they call back asking for more 2-3 months later. Most of the people who call you are drunks or stoned at the time, one of the managers in my call center was also the main pot dealer for most of the employees.
We were not allowed to put you on the DNC list unless you specifically said "Put me on your do not call list" Requesting "please take me off your call list" was not good enough, and we would get written up for doing so if you worded it that way.
Poster Snow on here works for CDG and spreads all kinds of lies and disinformation, just look at any other states FOP listing on here and youll see the same copy/pasted reply from him. I know they shut down our call center aout 1.5 years ago, but it seems they have recently opened up a new one. If you want to screw with them, tell them you want to make a 250 dollar donation the next time they call, then just throw the pledge kit away when you receive it. Put the sticker on your car if you want, hell its free anyway. They are allowed to call you 4 more times to tell you to send in the money, buts its not like its a bill and you dont have to pay anything. If you dont mind a few more harrassing phone calls, it is worth it to screw them over and make their "sales" numbers way overinflated vs their actual collections, and will lead to them being shut down again.
Feel free to ask more questions and I will gladly answer them, I know the company pretty well being a former manager there myself. And please copy/paste this to any other FOP listings that you see on this site, the compnay is a f***ing scam and the owners will burn in hell for their thieving ways and total disregard for the financial damage they have done to those who donate even though they cant afford it only because they were intimidated into donating.- Caller: CDG

- MaddyI received a call from this number today....no message...just the usual hangup. People...why do you answer these calls? Caller ID is the best invention since sliced bread. I get at least 3 hangup calls a day from "unknowns" or telemarketers looking for money, info, etc. Just check the number...and delete, delete, delete.
- Caller: FOP
- fedupI get a call from FOP every single day. They are so annoying. They even have different area codes. I have caller id on my tv, phones and caller id device. I NEVER pick up when they call or when an UNKNOWN calls. Sometimes the caller id would show a zero as a phone number. They are all scammers! Stay away from the phone when they call.
- Caller: FOP
- Alfie replies to SnowSure, they are doing a great job if you don't mind the fact that they keep approximately 74% of your donation to cover their running costs. The people calling you are nothing but professional fundraisers who rip you off in the name of charity.

- JulyboyIn this age of identity theft, you have no real idea who is calling. To protect yourself, do not give any information, pledge to donate a certain amount, nor confirm the spelling of you full first name and last name. Tell them to send a form or a letter to see if it is legitimate and decide if you will make a donation
after you see proof and check on the internet. It is foolish and possibly dangerous to conduct any business on the phone unless you know who it is.- Call type: Non-profit organization
