Selling medical alert system

"Hello, seniors. . ." this is one of those robocall scam recorded messages hawking a "medical alert system." Caller ID: Unavailable. Since I suspected it was some sort of robocall, I picked up the phone but did not say anything. Immediately, a recorded male voice started on the spiel. At the end of the recording, the voice said to press 9 to opt out. I still didn't do anything and held on. Eventually the call connection ended. Scammers!

Just received it too. This is yet another "Cold Call" to be entered into my 'PhoneTray' list to be blocked!

These scammers are using a slightly different tactic than normal.  Our phone rang only once before going to voice mail.  That's when we got the pre-recorded pitch trying to sell us a medical alert system.  We are on the DNC list, so there is no way that these folks are operating within the law.  Never do business with an outfit that doesn't respect the law.  If you do, you deserve whatever happens to you!

Caller ID characters: "Tarrytown NY".

Robocall recorded message about Medic Alert System  "free because you've already been recommended by a friend or family member".
Baloney!!
"Press one to accept your free system... press nine to opt out".   <---- I did neither, I pressed the hang-up button!

Robo call saying I was eligible for a Medical Alert system and to press one to speak to a live operator to get it!

Voicemail:

Since you've already been refered to by a friend or family member, we have a system waiting to be shipped out to you. Press 1 now to receive your personal medical alert system, again, press 1 now to receive your personal medical alert system. Press 9 to opt out.

Got the call. Didn't answer.  No message

Called my DNC registered landline. No voicemail. Decades from being a senior. Nor do I have any need for a family member. Scammers trying to obtain your credit info.

Why do we have DNC if we keep getting unwanted calls?

Because criminal scammers ignore the DNC. Really, do you ask why we still get burglaries when we have breaking and entry laws???

So the government can claim they are helping people avoid scammers.  However, they left enough leverage for people to break through it anyway. I just avoided the headache and the nonsense  involved with getting on it.  It is sort of as useful as a birth control pill that does not work all the time.

That is comparable to your statement about the DNC List!

The DNC List is a LIST, used by legitimate telemarketers so they know who not to call.
It is NOT a call blocker!
If you can find ANY statement by the govt that the DNC List was intended to block scammers, please post it here ... or forever hold your peace.

Other problems with your post:
* It is extremely easy to sign up for the DNCL - and one signup is "forever" (no renewals necessary)
* The DNCL indeed works for legitimate telemarketers.  If one is not on the list, even legitimate telemarketers can call with impunity.
* There is no "breaking through" the list ... the bad guys merely ignore it.

Question:
Why troll this thread with your obvious untruths?

Another day full of scam calls today, I guess.  Yesterday I lost count how many calls I got.  I assume this one is the same as described above.  I did not answer and it didn't roll over to answering machine because I was on the other line.

Got a call from this #  Voice mail started  "there are no medical exams required.."  and I hung up

Unknown name showed on my caller ID. I disconnected them after 3 rings.

Caller said from Insurance Company.   Calls once or twice a week.  Asked to have my name removed.  Hung up

Called cell, left message. All I heard was some blah blah about medical insurance before I hung up and blocked the number.

Called today did not recognize # so I didn't answer.  No message
