Checking out different sites after seeing nothing had been reported here.  The sites reveal it is a Verizon landline in Tarrytown, NY.  My parents have CID and get a least 2 calls a day from this number, which they ignore.  No idea who's number it is, but it is not one they recognize.  I got a call from a similar number a week or so ago on my cell #.  The caller claimed to be a State Trooper calling to raise money for their widows and children's fund.  I told him I do not give money over the phone, send me the info and if I am able I would consider it.  He said he would pick it up.  I told him again I do not give money over the phone.  He kept insisting any small donation would help and he would be happy to pick it up.  I told him one last time I do not give money over the phone, put it in the mail and I will consider it, now good bye, before I could hang up he start his same spiel... I stopped him and told him I am calling the State Police barracks here to find out if he is legit... he hung up!
