This number appeared on my caller Id, the message they left was just people talking in the backround but I could'nt make out what they were saying. So whoever it was did not leave a proper message as to why they called and I do not recognize this number or area code.

They called me too (I live in Toronto). My friend answered my phone and said, "Sorry, Brooke's not here. Can I take a message?" The woman said, "Well, may I ask who I'm speaking with?" My friend thought this was weird and replied, "Uh no...may I take a message?" Then the woman asks to speak to my husband and my friend says, "He's not here, may I take a message?" (for the 3rd friggin time) The woman said she'll just try again later. It was very strange that this woman refused to leave a message.

Caller ID displaying a city and state has become a favorite for Portfolio Recovery of trying to get people to answer their phone. This sounds like them.

I have had my number for years and they try to reach the previous owner of my number constantly. Got where I just dont bother answering unknown calls any more.
