I don't know if this is a new outfit, or if they're trying to change tactics.  During a call  with 'Aberdeen Enterprises' I was called everything from a deadbeat to a criminal.  Then, after I realized what was going on, and asked if next the guy was going to tell me that he had the Sheriff outside waiting to arrest me, he said that they didn't waste time with the S.O., he had the State Highway Patrol outside.  Since the ranking officer over this area is a personal friend, I offered this clown from 'Aberdeen Enterprises' his name and number.  That really pissed his off.  Just to cover my bases, I called the jurisdiction that supposedly had a warrant on me, and was informed that 21 years ago a Bench Warrant was issued for me for non-payment of $27.53 in Court Costs that had been overlooked when a Misdemeanor case had reached Disposition.  I was also informed that the Warrant was no longer valid for two reasons.  First, any Bench Warrant is only servable in the county that issued it, and second, the Bench Warrant looses it's Active Status after seven years by what's called an 'Operation of Law'.  The lady explaining all of this to me, who worked in the County Prosecutors Office, was kind enough to encourage me to not give 'Aberdeen Enterprises' any part of the $927.53 they were demanding, since this would just encourage other scammers to try the same con.  She told me that in the last ten or so years that this  type of con started showing up more and more.  What the wanna-be thieves do is to go through Public Records, noting down any pertinent information.  Then they contact the person, claiming to represent whatever jurisdiction was involved, and threatening immediate arrest if payment wasn't made immediately.  First they'll want an outrageous amount, like in my situation, but if they get no positive response, then they put you on hold to go talk to their boss [yeah right!].  When they come back from smoking a joint, or whatever else they do, they'll have this heartbreaking story about how their boss said, "Okay, we can except a lesser amount, but only if it's paid right now." The heartbreaking part of it is that now the nutjob on the phone won't get paid, because what the boss marked off of what you owe would've been their commission.

Don't get taken in by these fraudsters.  Report them to the Jurisdiction they are claiming to represent.  Also report them to the BBB Online.  A lot of people pay the reduced amount, which may be as low as $25 or $30, just to get them off their back, that's what their banking on, because any amount is a win-win for them.  They not only get a bit of cash, but now they have your Card info., and you can bet that they'll 'accidently' run it again, and again, and again...

    Blessings, and Beware!

Good post & good catch. This scam has been run now for several years by the "Municipal Services Bureau". They are owned by the Gila Corp. & operate out of Texas. I'd be surprised if this outfit isn't, in some fashion, related to them.
When they call again (and they will) let the call go to VM. Come back here & post their message. I will be able to tell immediately if they're the same scum-bags by reading a transcript of their message. If "Aberdeen Enterprises" is operated by the Gila Corp. I want to know about it.
It's possible that some scammers in Oklahoma are trying to run the same scam. But from what you describe, the M.O. is exactly the type that the "MSN" losers have been using. I have had an interest in them for quite some time. They know it & will be none too happy if they find out that I've linked them to a new "operation" & a new number.
Be sure to make a complaint to the FTC & the AGs office in Oklahoma. A complaint to your local jurisdiction won't garner a lot of attention & a complaint to the BBB is barely worth the effort. Every little bit helps though.
Thanks for your post & please come back with any more info.
    Live Well,
    Gunnar

I got a call from them today. They said I had two outstanding warrants for my arrest from 1996 Creek county (I've never been to creek County and don't even know where that is) for a speeding ticket that was never paid and another for Payne County in 2000 for no insurance but it was dismissed and I just had to pay a fine. They said I was driving a 1993 black Ford.

I was never pulled over or ticketed for either of these situations. I have no idea how they got my phone number years later and I live in another state. But they've definitely got my attention and have scared me. I'm a law abiding person and to hear I have "warrants" out for my arrest is shocking and concerning. They want $500.

I'm going to try and contact these different counties court houses and see if I can get any information because this doesn't make sense.

I got a call from this number and they left a message claiming to be Cleveland County (Norman). I have lived in Cleveland County Oklahoma since receiving my law degree from OU back in 2001. I did a little digging. First I double checked with Cleveland County. I have NO warrants or outstanding fines, tickets, or costs.

Secondly, I found that the president of Aberdeen Enterprises 2 is none other than Jim D. Shofner who has already been convicted in FEDERAL court in the Northern District of Oklahoma. Check this link.

    http://www.morelaw.com/verdicts/case.asp?n=01-CR-50&s=OK&d=14143

If these people contact you just ignore it... or if you want to have some fun with them just piss them off. They're nothing and looks like old Jim could wind back up in Federal court again soon! Haha

In Oklahoma, it is very easy to find out if there are any warrants issued for anyone you want to search. Got to OSCN.net. At the top hover over the Court Records tab, then under Search, click on "Search OSCN Court Records". This way you can search nearly all of them at once if you leave "All Oklahoma Courts" in the top box. Then put in your name (it is better to use first and last only) hit the second GO and see what results.
These are the cases where a warrant might be placed. You might have to look at the case itself. Sometimes it will have OSW (outstanding warrant) by the name in the search results. If you have a name that could be easily misspelled (that would be all names) then you might try putting the first couple of letters and % then the last 2 letters for a wildcard. It's harder to find, but it can happen.
While this is the majority of counties in the state it is not all of them. Before you can be confident of any warrants, you must do the same thing; only this time over the Court Records tab click on "Search non-oscn court records". Now you have searched all Oklahoma counties.
    Good luck!

I received a call from this number today but all they did is breathe in my ear and after I said hello and heard nothing but breathing I told them to have a nice day and hung up. That was my experience.

Called stating a bench warrant had been issued for my arrest due to a 8/3/2003 traffic citation (passenger not wearing a seat belt) not being paid.  They even sent me a copy of the citation.  I explained that My name was not spelled like that on the citation; I had never lived at the address on the citation; the date of birth was wrong; and the race was wrong.  Was told that if I wanted to clear this up I would need to hire a lawyer.

New dimension: they ask if you are another name.  When you say "no". They ask your name.  Then they continue telling you about an osw for you.  This is REALLY rediculous.  Give them nothing!!!

I forgot who these people were, until I looked up their number. These are the same people that have called me periodically for several years and left voice mails. I only remembered when I started reading the stories here. It is always about a particular person they are looking for. I have had this same phone number for many many years.  They claim it is the number of the person they are looking for. Of course , they say I have warrants out for me. That is so laughable. I am squeaky clean, I have never even had a parking ticket. They are looking for gullible people to fall for their tactics. Don't assume that you owe them anything, they are totally bogus. Even if you have had other problems with the law don't assume this is you. I dread knowing that I will be getting more calls. Can't remember how long it took for this to be over. I make it a strict point to never answer calls I do not recognize.

Curious when I pay the court house for anything I pay with a personal check and these people will not accept this. Must have something to do with a trace ability because how do I know the court will even receive the money. I Don't! Regardless of authenticity, why have they been able to continue these antics unwarranted ? Have a good day

So thankful for these posts. I have been receiving mail from this so called company for so long and really don't know how they have my information. I called every county in Tulsa Oklahoma and none had anything on me so I was very confused. What's even crazier is I've just recently moved and somehow they have my new address. For me to Google it and pull this up was truly a blessing!!! I was getting afraid!!

I received a call from them a couple of weeks ago.  First off, I didn't even know my husband in 2003 and so how did they get my number???  Secondly, the case number listed at the bottom of the letter doesn't even show my husband's name on there.  They are nothing but a fraud collection group.  Don't trust them at all!!

    Report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a clear violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.
You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.
You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.
