Live caller who claimed he was asking for money for some police-related charity.  I'd never heard of this particular charity, and even if such a group exists, how do I know how much (if any) of contributions actually go to program work? So I had to hang up on the guy in mid-sentence. Sometimes I feel a little bad about doing this (It's probably because this fellow had a very sexy Southern accent if I'm telling the truth), but that's the way it goes.

I think all of these "charities" use the same call list. If you remove your number from one then you start getting calls from another.

Received and answered call.  Caller asked if I was Elaine Gibson; I said yes, and he hung up.  He did not have a sexy southern accent.  He actually sounded very Professional,

Paid solicitation company for a nearly fake police charity.
Robocall with automated voice system asking for support for the 'National Police and Troopers Association'.
This is yet another semi-real police 'charity' that works through for-profit solicitors that keep 90% of the funds.
(Typically 90% to the 'fund-raiser', 9% to the 'charity administration', and 1% to police/families - just enough to keep them from being arrested and put in jail.)
NPTA is located in Sarasota Florida with several similar pseudo-charities.  The calls come from a for-profit company that violates telemarketing laws and uses spoofed out-of-service numbers to spam call millions of numbers.
I could not get the robo-voice to tell me what company was actually calling, so I asked to be removed from their call list and it hung up.
Not rated on CharityNavigator, not BBB listed but plenty of complaints.  Also - not a legitimate tax deductible donation.
Treat as you would a scammer.

    Hate em'
They split the money between themselves and give usually maybe 10% to charity.  Makes the telemarketer and their boss very happy though!  I am on DNC as everyone knows it doesn't work, Thieves!!

It's not a charity. It's a union called the National Police and Troopers Association. A columnist in Seattle said less than 1% goes to the charity. The NPTA web site states donations are not tax deductible. Therefore they are not a charity. They are non-profit but they are not a charity though their message implied they are.
