This number called several times. I called back and found out that it was Washington Mutual. They called to let me know I missed my credit card payment.

When I anwered no one anwered back I *69 the person and this number came up. What is Washington Mutual? I think they call here alot because within a day we get at least 5-7 hang ups just like this one. It's so annoying. This is a place of business and they're wasting our time.

Washington Mutual is Visa credit card.  It used to be call Providian.  They call the minute your payment is late and call several times a day until you make the payment.

Well this number calls my cell phone like their dialing 911 from the Titanic (repeatedly and hanging up and calling again when no answer LOL) and I am sick of it. I don't have any business with Washington Mutual or any credit cards called Providian, nor have I ever. This is harassment. And I guarantee, if I do answer one day and they ask for a stranger, they will get confrontational when I tell them they have the wrong number. This happened with our home number; someone used our phone number and I have battled for four years (FOUR years!) to prove that I am not a particular person.

I did a search and they own alot of banks, credit and mortgage companies.  This link has a list of the names.

They called me 5 times yesterday and once before 8:00 a.m. today, overall I've received in the neighborhood of 15 phone calls.

I recall someone telling me that, if you give the caller ample notice that you do not want to be contacted, every subsequent phone call can be used to show harrassment and cost the company money which they pay to you.

I'm certain there was a court ruling to this affect but I can't recall the party names (although I'm sure one was a credit card/loan company).

I was getting 5-6 calls a day from these people. i had the phone company find out who it was. Then I called their corporate office 5-6 times a day for several days. After I told them I would file a complaint with the state regulatory agency and a police report for harassing phone calls. I don't have business w/ them and never have. They took me off their list immediately. Make sure you get the name and time/date of anyone you talk to.

If this number is based somewhere in CA, then why do they call themselves Washington Mutual (as if they were in Washington, D.C.)?

There are at least two possible reasons as to where this number came from or why this number came to my cell phone:

(1) Prior to this, I went to Economy Rent-A-Car, and received several phone calls some days later from (660) 626-1543 in which a lady identified her group as "marriage research"; it turned out that almost everybody who received a phone call from this (660) 626-1543 phone number had also been to Economy Rent-A-Car several days before receiving this phone call too [from (660) 626-1543]!   Apparently Economy Rent-A-Car is "selling" your contact information to others!  

(2) Several days before receiving the call from (925) 738-0246, I received an email requesting my cell phone number and other personal information in order to claim a money prize and a brand new Toyota Prius.  It turned out that whoever sent that email was/is part of a huge scam called the "419 scam", so it is possible that this phone number , (925) 738-0246, is [somehow] related to the "419 scam".  It requested credit card information.  Whatever you do, DO NOT give your credit card number out to anyone/anybody that you do not know or trust!

Washington Mutual is a *Seattle, Washington* based bank and finance company with about 2600 offices nationwide.  The CA number is their collections division.

It's a legitimate company.  It seems the person who had your phone number previously has an outstanding account with them.  Just answer it next time and tell them they have the wrong number.

Just today I contacted Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, and Sean Hannity about WaMu and their harassing phone calls...I also contacted my cell carrier, AND the Speaker of the House in Austin, Texas (I live in TX) regarding Washington Mutual and their form of domestic terrorism.  If you want these calls to stop, you have got to get online and email your state representative, your cell carrier, the media, everybody, make your voice heard, we need enough people to actually get serious about shutting WaMu down and if you are still getting these calls, I suggest standing on the sidewalk in front of a Washington Mutual bank (or Chase bank) and protest!!  Know your boundaries and keep it legal and it WILL get attention, I guarantee it.  You can't just wish this sort of thing away, and it will only get worse unless we all take some sort of action now!!
