- B| 2 repliesIt's Washington Mutual's credit card center.
- Caller: Washington Mutual
- max replies to coldasiceI called washington mutual the phone number is not affliated with them. I also called the police and reported it and you should do the same. They ask for you to key in your credit card number & s.s. number then someone comes on the line. Police advised blocking the numbers, however, they have 16 different numbers all starting with the 738 prefix.
- MAX replies to B| 1 replyHope you didn't give out your information. It's a scam.
- AARDVKThey've called my cell phone 8 or 9 times over the past week, never leaving a message. Only a handful of people have my phone number, so I always google anything that the phone doesn't recognize. Thanks to the info provided here by everyone else, I will go ahead and block it.
- Mike| 2 repliesJust got a call from this number as well. Called back after looking it up and finding that it is a scam. Apparently the number reroutes to the Philippines, where a Ms. Peyton Sawyer (definitely a fake name) answered (after the automated system asked me for a credit card number and ssn repeatedly). I informed the nice lady that I was not a Wamu customer, and so why is Wamu calling me. She blatantly asked for my ssn so she can "crosscheck her database". After giving her a fake number that spells a couple of cusswords (although I doubt she will figure it out), I told her that I will be reporting her to the FBI for fraud, to which she replied "OK. I don't think this is fraud sir. I'm just trying to get your social security number.)... wow... some people are reeeeeeeeally stupid.
Reverse phone lookup on this number came out to a residential landline in pleasanton, CA, but it's probably just a redirect to the philippines where the scam is operating. - Heathersomeone from this number has been calling my house 7-8 times a day and never leaves a message. One night it was after 10pm and my husband basically cussed them out for calling our house that late. If you try to answer no one ever speaks up.
- Barbara replies to MikeI get calls from this telephone number at least 5-8 times per day on my cell phone. They also call me every week-end starting between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM. No message is ever left.
I called this number back and an automated system says that there is an important message for me and to hold on. Of course, I don't.
What does a person do? - VeeKayJust a Hang-up. I have a WaMu card. I'd love to track this jerk down & have a little heart to heart.
- Irritated in HawaiiWhen this number showed up on my cell phone, I googled it right away. I don't know anyone w/ numbers starting w/ 925. These people are such idiots. They all go straight to the machine... and I message states that if the number is "unknown" or "private" or I personally don't know the number.. I will not answer, so if it's important.. to leave a message. They continue to call... HELLO.. I'm not going to answer.
- Elizabeth replies to LoriThe man asked for me by first name, then the call was cut off. He had a heavy accent.
- Looking for answers...Got a call from 925-738-0253 (CLID says San Francisc CA) SEVERAL times, they usually do not leave a message, however last night they leave a message with a number of 877-697-6461 and the message they left sounds like it was recorded on a old Victrola record player.
What is up here? - B.Caller claims to be from Washington Mutual and says that a apyment has been missed and must be made immediately to avoid late fees. Very adimant about youstaying on the line with them. Asks for account number.
- Caller: SAn Francisco
- Call type: Debt collector
- Mary AnneIt was a woman with a heavy accent who could barely pronounce my name. I couldn't understand and said that they had the wrong number (because at the time my husband was standing right next to me and I didn't want him to know). I lost my job 6 months ago and haven't been able to find another one. I've gone to several interviews, but no one wants to hire me. Therefore, I can't pay the bills and collection agencies or bill collectors call me day and night. It's got to a point where I can't deal with it anymore.
- Dr. Hardcrab20 calls (on my WORK cell phone) a day for the past 4 days. Pain in the a$$!!! All start with (925) 738- and the last 4 digits are all different. I have answered the past 4 calls with "Jello?" there is silence for about 5 seconds, then a lady with broken English asks to speak to Joe. (Joe who? I wonder). I just keep saying "Jello?". She gets irritated and hangs up. Hopefully I am not getting charged for the call. I'm only on for about one minute.
Maybe I'll start saying "Pudding?" Or maybe play a clip from a porno movie...;-] - Eric replies to MAXI can verify that it's not a scam...it's Washington Mutual. I missed a payment so I did it on the phone when they called from this number, and the transaction appeared on my next statement.
