Called, robo answer with no rings, suspect a spammer of some sort, texted me just asking my name and if this was still my number...no reason or message,

Same experience, knew my name and asked if this was still my number. I replied by asking who it was and had no response.

Same experience, glad I found this blog.  Thx for reportting.  Don't respond to future users.

DO NOT RESPOND BACK This caller/scammer call/texts people and knows their names.

I got same text. Didn’t respond.

The same thing happened to me. I chose to not respond and googled instead which directed me to this site. Thanks for reporting!

Unwanted Text Messages

Forward unwanted text messages to 7726 so that carriers will block them. Some carriers do not accept that code and if that is the case then contact your carrier about how to block unwanted text messages, however 7726 is accepted in the US, Canada, and Great Britain. Also, never, ever click on a link in a text message as it will probably install something nasty to your phone that you really will not want to deal with and never, ever respond to one because lets them know that they have a good number with someone on the other end.  It will result in more calls and texts.

I initially got the message from 949-989-7577 asking if it is still my number. Knew my first name. I read this blog before opening so I just deleted the message.

5 days later I received a second message saying “ Hey just wanted to follow up on my last message. Didn't hear back from you
yesterday….. Is this still your number“

It’s really weird and makes me very uncomfortable….

Just got a text "Hey James, is this still your number?"  Came here and found that this is the case for everyone.  Didn't respond.  Make sure you don't respond.
