Left several messages from "claims department" of anonymous company. When I call, a MAN answered at the first ring, asking for me, and will not tell me the name of the company.

Got a call several times, but never left a message - adding it to my 'Do not answer' list

This  company called, left a "confidential message"  about some complaint about me .  They said to call them at 704-585-8987 and discuss my complaints with them.

This number has been calling me for a couple of weeks now and gives me 4 digits of an SSN and when I verify that my SSN is different from what they gave me they usually say ok they will remove me from their list, Well today when they called and I gave them my 4 digits the lady was able to give me my entire SSN and when I asked her where she got it from she called a creditor's name that I do not have. I am freaked out now because I don't know what these people will do with my number. Is there anything that I can do?

They purchase OLD debt then attempt to collect.  They called asking me to provide the last 4 of my SS# stating that a bank filed a complaint against me.  I refused and called the second number they provided.  After a lengthy argument the rep finally provided me an alternate way to "verify my identity" and stated that she was calling in regards to a credit card account on which I defaulted in 2013.  I informed her that I had subsequently filed a bankruptcy and that her attempts to collect this debt were illegal.  She looked up the bankruptcy and and confirmed that I was right and stated that she would mark the account and not call anymore.  So to answer everyone's question.....   These are potentially legitimate calls in regards to OLD debt.
