Keep getting a call, no voicemail left and when I text there is no reply.

The only 2 companies I gave this number to, about a week ago, was a Jeep dealer in Daytona Beach, Fl. and online with Avis Used car sales.  
I tend to think the caller is not Avis because I specifically told them to contact me only by e-mail. All prior dealings I've had with Avis I always felt comfortable and suspect that they would honor my wishes. The other outfit I do not feel as comfortable.
While I was left in the showroom while the salesman did the customary, "wait while I talk to the sales manager" spiel I checked the quoted price to the price advertised online and saw that the one given by the salesman was $2,510.00 higher.  On top of that the $25.00 gift card promised for coming in for a test drive never materialized.  I thought that this dealership a little too weedy for me to buy from so I left the showroom.  .
This number comes up to a Fort Lauderdale, FL,  exchange.  Further checking shows it is registered to a company called Auto Nation based out of Miami FL.  A Google search of "Auto Nation" shows multiple dealership throughout Florida, and a few in the area of Daytona Beach. I did not see the deanship I was at listed. .  
Whoever someone called multiple times from this number and never left a message.  If one were to call back there is no one answering at this  phone number.  I would think an honest company would leave a message or at least have someone answering their calls.. Isn't that what most honest businesses thrive on, customer contact? I'm always suspect of someone trying to hijack me.
I am classifying this caller as a telemarketer since their degree of courtesy is about the same..

This is a legitimate number of the AutoNation Direct sales department. AutoNation operates many car dealerships around Florida. When I submitted an online enquiry via USAA/TrueCar for special pricing on a specific car, I received a call from this number within seconds. It was not unsolicited telemarketing.

However, these dealerships, and their Direct Sales department, are known for over-pricing, lots of games, and a variety of additional fees and charges. I'd strongly advise buying a car from ANY other dealership than AutoNation. You will save thousand$.  I speak from experience: my recent call from them led to an offer that was >$2000 higher than other area dealers...

Very disappointed in Edmonds.com.  The only time I gave my number out in 6 months was today, in order to get my trade-in guarantee, I had to supply Edmonds with my phone number. Typically, I use a fake number on line with all of the .com auto sites - my sister works for a dealership and has to 15 years  and she advised two things (1) never pay invoice (2) never ever give your real number to any site. She also advised that I'll never be rid of any dealer or auto site, including Consumer REports cars and carfax who also sell your number to 100's of other car sites.
Teh enormous amount of email is overwhelming enough. She advised that if you want to buy a car don't give any information to anyone unless it's f2f and even then put something in writing that no one is permitted to email or call unless given express, written authorization. She admits that car dealerships are thieves for the most part concerned with only 1 thing- making the deal regardless of what your needs may be. To dealerships, the big ones anyway, we are a $. thus, our privacy , peace of mind and  security is irrlelvant .  She sells cars only to referals, she's that good.   I wish I could buy my next vehicle from her but she's too far away.
