Got a call yesterday from heavily accented man saying he was from the Windows Tech Department, and I had malicious trojans digging into my computer and sending out all kinds of garbage, and that it was corrupting my hard drive, gave his name as Jack DeShusa (sp?) and wanted me to talk to his technician.  His name was given as Glen McCoy.  Strange names for heavy accents with very loud background noise and many heavily accented male and female voices.  Walked me through several pages of warning alerts about my internet and email.  I don't know how they found me to call me, but they wanted me to purchase their service, and told me my professional AVG was not working to protect my computer.  They also identified themselves as Windows help and support.  I had my friend call Microsoft while I was still on the phone with them, and she said Microsoft said absolutely not, so here's another scam, I believe.

What DawnElla described above is the same thing that happened to me.  The caller (Indian accent with heavy noise in the background) asked me to download something so I asked for his number telling him I would call back.  THIS IS DEFINITELY A SCAM!!!

I received a call from 512-570-0000. The same heavy accented man tried to tell me he was from Windows Tech dept and there were warnings"they" were getting from my computer and asked if I would be able to get on my computer for a while. I told him I can't and asked for a call back number. He gave me 954-944-1249. DO NOT get on your computer with these people. I'm POSITIVE Windows would NOT be calling each of their million plus customers.

I also received a call from from the 954-944-1249 "Jim Stiller"  but he couldn't pronounce it correctly - very heavy accent.
Requested hi name and number - after reading the above,We will not be calling "Jim" back.

The heavy accent caller was from 543-464-7654. I ask for a phone number I could call to verify his information. I knew it was a scam but was trying to get more detail. He gave me 954-944-1249. He just kept reading his script over and over no matter what questions I ask.  I ended the call by telling him I suspected he just wants to hack my computer and I was going to report it.

I got a call from this number on my cell, which I rarely use, and the man with accent insisted he was from Windows Operating System Help. I told him to give me his number and I would check it out, then said "good-bye." He then called back twice but I didn't answer. What a scam!!

A man with a heavy accent call me.... and long story short advice me there was a bug that was about to interrupt my computer... He said he was from mirco tech trying to help me fix the problem... Loud noise from the back aisround making it sound busy people talking to other customers about there computer... Something didn't seem right... I ask for call back number and have me the 954 --- number... I knew that was red flag.. usually tech support is a 1-800 number and supposedly This number was his direct number... Hhhhmmm when u call back you'll get some point else new... Another red flag... And the last one is that he knew I was catching on he kept getting irritated When I kept saying what the web site again... He completey cut me off.. And said yeah thank you and hung up..... I didn't do anything cause my question is micro soft ware techs has million of people and why would they have time call me.... Think about it... All this is a SCAM ¡!!!!!!!! Beware

I did not receive a call from this number but my elderly mother did.  She was told that they were tech reps for a microsoft anti-virus team.  "Pakistani Paul" and his manager, "Indian Steve", were calling her to warn her that her (recently purchased) computer had been hacked and was "85% consumed" by viruses.  They were charged with preventing the inevitable crash of her pc.  (She basically got the same script that all of the other posters on this webpage have posted so far.)  Although my mother responded first with skepticism, she was eventually convinced that they were legitimate and proceeded with providing her debit card number and remote access to her computer to them in exchange for their help and protection.  I became aware of this transaction (thankfully just later in the same day that it happened) through my sister who lives with my mother and witnessed the whole thing.  Danger signals immediately went off in my head as my sister casually began telling me the details of what took place.  The most incredible part of this incident is that my mother was so convinced of their authenticity and their "patient assistance" that it took me a few hours on the phone to convince her to unplug her computer and report her debit card as "stolen" to block all transactions.  These cowardly criminals who prey on the elderly/vulnerable disgust me.  This is most definitely a SCAM!

We received a call from a Private Number, but answered it, unfortunately.  It was strange to get a call from "Niel Smith" having such a heavy accent  There was a lot of noise in the background.  They were trying to make it sound like a call center.  He kept stating that he was from Microsoft support.  He mentioned me having a certified version of Windows, but never stated the version.  I knew that I didn't have an account or agreement with Microsoft, so I was suspicious within the 1st 10 seconds of the call.  But I patiently listened to him asking me to run a couple of commands.  I stopped when he asked me about connecting to their server.  I knew that if I connect to their server, they're really connected to my PC.  There was a server ID and password.  He asked me to confirm their server ID.  I asked "don't you know your own server ID."  He gave me the phone # so I could call the helpdesk after I asked several times.  He said he'd hold the phone.  He said to ask for Niel Smith.  I said that I didn't need him to hold.  I said I'd call them back because I was busy.  He kept reiterating that he'd hold.  I just hung up.  The call back # was 954-944-1249.  Don't waste your time.  He'll keep saying that "we're here to help you."

We've gotten three calls from this scammer type. One wanted to get on my computer and do what they do. One pretended he was calling from the IRS and said we had to pay $10k right now or they'd come arrest us or some stupid thing. My husband got out his card and almost did it, but I stopped him. He had already felt his BS Detector go off when the guy wouldn't let him call back. They were to meet in a public place with the cash. (Then they run like hell with it, if you're interested in how they defraud you.) For the first two calls about Windows, I just said (to Mr. Spencer Davis lol)  "Why can't you people get a new scam? Everyone in the US already knows about this scam already and no one will ever fall for it again!". They just hang up, but hey, I haven't gotten any calls since.

Called me 10 times in a row. Wow. They should be fined. Seriously.
