Reduce your JCP&L energy bill scam, company that does not respect Do Not Call lists

Call came in after 9pm. No message. Scammer

Called cell phone. Left no voicemail. We NEVER answer ANY unsolicited call. No CID on cell. Area code NJ.

"This is a courtesy call......" no it isn't, it's a scam. Spoofing local numbers of a neighboring town. It's really getting bad out there. Don't answer any unknown calls, respond to voice message only.

Called landline. CID displayed Verona, NJ. We know no one in Verona and do business with no one in Verona. Previously called cell phone, a number rarely given out. We Do Not respond to unsolicited calls. A legitimate caller will leave a message with their name, company name and valid call back number. This was not done. Calling and not leaving a proper message is poor business practice or a scammer trying to fast talk a person into a product, service, charity, or revealing personal information they can profit from, before caller has been properly researched and evaluated.

My current action to these people is to write to your local representatives AND the governor's office and demand high penalties for these people. Make these scammers obey the Do Not Call lists. First offense is $25000 and 5 years mandatory jail sentence; second offense$100,000 and 25 mandatory jail sentence. Those penalties won't happen, but it may get the attention of our legislators and force them to do something about this.
