(973) 559-6702  IRS Scam. Beware. These creeps spoof so many Americans numbers from their overseas "hubs". There has to be a way to lock these creeps us forever. They prey upon the elderly who have no clue.

Call blocker is your best bet.  Also do not pick up on call numbers you do not recognize.

Robomessage stating the IRS "has filed lawsuit against you".  Not "A" lawsuit, which would be the correct grammar.    Another give away is they never ask for anyone by name.  They just say "you".  The automated voice is probably to hide their Indian accent.  I got the exact same message yesterday from a completely different area code.  They caught the bunch that was doing all these scams in India last year but it looks like they are back.  Get a call blocker.  It will give you peace of mind.

received this call today stating they were the irs and there has been a lawsuit filed. I needed to call the number back to find out more information. Caller ID 973-559-6702 and name of Jennifer Cox

I got the same exact message from the same person, Jennifer Cox.    Scumbags!  I never answer the phone when a number comes up that I don't recognize.  If it is important they will leave a message.

The IRS will contact you by mail.
If you are concerned that you have taxes due, you can call the IRS at 800-829-1040.  Be prepared to wait for an IRS employee to answer.

Yes, IRS scam.  If I were someone named Jennifer Cox, I'd be pretty mad that my name is being used to perpetuate the scam.  These people are scumbags.  (And I classified it as 'debt collector' since 'scammer' wasn't an option.)
