First you must provide a reasonable and verifiable amount of proof the report is bogus and/or malicious. Many people make scam, telemarketing and other unwanted calls, then complain when they are exposed. Press the [ ! ] button at the bottom of the post in question and give details of why the post should be removed.
Remember, people spoof private and business numbers all the time and reports do not necessarily reflect on the phone number itself as the caller who made the call, so reports are meant to inform others about the caller, not the number itself.
That’s why I asked about the prefix. I’ve noticed over the last couple of year a huge increase in calls that share the same prefix as the number the operation is calling. That tells me that telemaggoters are trying to get around robocall blockers. It is for this reason that I will not report those numbers.
I don't know why a prospective employer would have any issue with a 10 year old report of a phone number. Phone numbers are passed to others over the years and unless your name is somehow "attached" to the number in the report, then just explain about spoofing.
If they need any information about the report, you can always explain that numbers get spoofed and that reports are made here about the caller who used/spoofed a number in the thread dedicated to a given number. I wouldn't worry about a 10 year old report causing any problems with getting hired. If they hold you to the report, then perhaps its a sign you don't want to be employed by anyone who does not understand the purpose of reports made here. Who knows what else they might not understand that would affect your employment terms.
Vendetta posts are not uncommon on any website that deals with reports and reviews. Ex-spouses/partners file false and exaggerated reports all the time on websites and with the police/courts. At least you are prepared and can have be ready with a simple answer to questions that might come up.
You have a plausible and simple explanation to make to any employer. If you were a doing a lot of drugs, that would show in your work or arrest records. A prospective employer can easily have that info with a background check, and if you come up clean, I doubt a 10 year old vendetta post will hurt you.
A smart employer looks at specific cases. When I did hires for business this sort of thing was not unusual. Don't make a big deal out of this on a website or in an interview. One vendetta post on this site is not that big a deal in the scope of things. Let an old Sour Grapes post die on the vine.
ps - There is an older thread on this - might have some useful info. IMHO, it is probably not worth going nuts looking for it.
pps - With all due respect - You might be more concerned that an employer gloms to your posting name of "ShankSteele." Implies some familiarity with edged weapons and the prison system. Maybe "SoftKitty123" would be better?
