+243 841 597 716: If you receive a Cell Phone message for a toll violation from this number it originates from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DROC). I don't recall traveling by car or any means through DROC. Actually, I never visited the country in my entire life, but if you receive a toll violation from this zip code or the full number on your cell phone it is a scam. Does DROC even have toll roads? Do they even have roads?--LOL!

got similar text yesterday on wife's phone - reported to the FTC phishing email address and also marked it as spam. We have EZPass in VA but are on auto-refill so never have a balance due. Thanks for figuring out what country this scammer is in.
I would hope most people would see it has the Country code +243 and know it is not from the North American Numbering Plan. You looked it up and were able to see it was from the Democratic Republic of Congo and obviously a scam.
FYI: The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is working on a new 184-kilometer toll road, the Kasomeno-Mwenda toll road, to link Zambia and the DRC, aiming to enhance access to cobalt mines and improve transportation for trade.
Also making their scam more "legitimate" right? Lol Imagine, they make a big construction project with the intent to scam people on the phone.... ridiculous!🤣
That doesn't make any sense to construct a major highway with the intention of scamming people over the phone. The scammers would have to be among the dumbest in the world to spend more than they would ever collect from scamming. Besides, why would they call North American phone numbers and display their Country Code, giving away they are not in the same continent?
It does not make the scam more legitimate, in fact it only confirms itself to be a scam.
