Someone is sending out scam text alerts under the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles claiming for unpaid fees and driver's license suspension within 48 hours. Plus they are putting links to click on in the text message and other threats by text. The number that they are using is 1-266-6376-7508

Thank you, this is a well known scam.  However, it would be more useful to the community to alert them by posting under the phone number that sent you the text.  In addition, please note that you may have made a typing error when putting in the number as there are too many numbers for this to be a phone number. Is it possible the number was 266-376-7508?  It seems there is one to many "6s" in the exchange (the middle three numbers).  Please check the number and enter it in the search box at right.  If there are no other posts on the thread, you can start it by posting your experience.  Cheers.

Pudge is quite correct; this should be posted under the number thread for the number that called you.  This site is based on people looking up the numbers that called them.  Posting such "warnings" like yours in a Forum thread is an exercise in futility as it will be quickly displaced by other threads and buried (if the Mods do not simply remove it first).

If you actually saw "1-266-6376-7508" on your Caller ID display, then you should go to whocallsme.com, search for the number and then post in the number thread the search returns.  That site can handle non-standard numbers.

Unless you mistyped the area code, the number was definitely spoofed (as opposed to most likely having been spoofed), since the 266 area code is not in service and is reserved to be used for non-geographic numbers (special use and toll-free numbers) in the future, not consumer numbers.

Forward unwanted spam/scam texts to 7726 (SPAM) and let your phone service provider deal with them.
That number was set up by the phone companies to combat spam/scam texts and they can shutdown offending phone numbers.
Never reply with "STOP", scammers will not honor the request (they have no honor to begin with) and it only verifies that they have texted to a valid number with a person who reads their texts.  It will not STOP the texts and may actually make them more frequent.
Never click on a link in such a text as it may cause malware to be inserted on your phone, and even if it does not, just as with replying "STOP" the scammers will know they reached a valid number.
Do not repost any links included in the text message to public sites such as this one.  It may subject others to malware if they click on it or, in some cases, it may reveal personal information posted on the target site of the link.  Links that are a domain followed by a string of characters and digits (e.g., "adomain.com/AbC1d34q") are specific to the text recipient.  If the link is followed, the sender will know and assume the intended recipient clicked on it, which may lead to more texts being sent.
