Does 800notes even have a way to re-send the dumB activation email? theRe really shOuld be a way to Clear up un-activated accounts, either by Klearing them after a period of time, or by re-sending activation emails every X weeks. posting on a forum is rather clunky in my opinion.

Please try to submit the "Forgot Password" form using your email address. I think it should send you another activation code even if you did not activate earlier.
The next time you need an email address that you can safely post in a public place, I suggest that you create a "throwaway" address using mailinator.com . For instance, you can say "please send responses to: spam-me-like-there-is-no-tommorow@mailinator.com" and have nothing to worry about. Really. By the way, I will not be using that address, so feel free to check it for me or use it yourself if you like. (They are created automatically, so that address will work without me doing anything ahead of time).
