- Keila8574Just a heads up I too, received a check for $3,750.00 from a bank check from Am South Bank.
I got a little excited never won anything, and thought wow I could get more of my bills payed off.
Phoenix Brands is also at the top of the check.
I have called the number from a New York address, and got a recording that the mail box was full and you could not leave a message to you guessed it Mrs Anna Austin. and the tax amount to hold out was $2,700.00.....It just makes me furious people do these things, and get your hopes up, you think maybe I won, and can rest a little easier for awhile.
Not...............
But will report them to my banker at Wachovia. - lautxFederal Trade Commission Website has Consumer Alerts on this scam

Title You do not have to PAY to Play. No legitimate Sweepstakes requires you pay taxes or fees to receive your prize.
No legit Sweepstakes is going to send you a check to pay those taxes or fees with either - just to have you wire most of it back -
the WIRE MONEY part tells you its a SCAM.
Never wire money to people you do not personally know (another FTC ALERT as well)
This is fake check scam - send a fraudulent check that is guaranteed to bounce - get you to wire most of it back before it bounces. (they know the bank will release the funds before the check officially bounces)
they get YOUR money and you get stuck with the check and paying the bank back - it can result in having your bank account closed! In some cases you can also be arrested for passing bad checks, - DaFoxPlease see:
