I just received a text (apparently came in at 2:04 a.m.) from 714.616.6158 that says the following: "Your entry last month has WON! Go to BestBuyRaffle.com and enter your winning code 9170 to claim your FREE $1000 BestBuy gift card within 24 hrs."
The official Best Buy website is
www.bestbuy.com, so this has made me curious. I looked up the raffle and it brought me to this website which isn't a good sign. The thing that bothers me is that we recently renewed our cell phones and bought them at Best Buy. On the other hand, I did sell some things on Craigslist and put my cell phone in the listing, although I spelled it out partially numerically and partially in words so it wouldn't easily get picked up by spammers. Wierd.
Once I entered the code it opens a page that asks for my email and at the top shows bestbuy.rewardhubzone.com. and has the following information which tells me it's definitely a scam:
"This Gift Redemption Program is an independent rewards program for consumers and is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any of the listed products or retailers. Trademarks, service marks, logos, and/or domain names (including, without limitation, the individual names of products and retailers) are the property of their respective owners.
