SCAM: Junk text claims you've won $1000 Best Buy gift card

Got the same bogus text from 201-539-0241. Figured it was-glad I searched and found this blog. Thing I find most interesting is that I just upgraded my phone through Best Buy so they were only ones with my phone number.  Anyojne else have this common thread? Concerned they've  been hacked....

I have called back numerous times and get an answering machine.

Just got a text from 347-316-8690 stating I just won an Apple Iphone. What a crock!! Cell as well as house phone are on "Do Not Call List" and apparently is worthless.

same best buy message but the number was 3475654134

I also got the message saying I was chosen to win $1000 Best Buy gift card. two weeks later, I got a similar txt saying I was chosen for the tech winner of the week. It even gave me a code.
I went to the website, and put the code. It said verified, but it led me to a blank website and apparently didn't load. I totally fell.

But I'm not in any danger right now right?

Did you enter any information?  If you gave them a bank account number or credit card number close the account.  If you gave them your social security number start watching your credit score for evidence of identity thieft.

I have a test PC at work so I went to the website and filled in the info to 'claim' my Best Buy prize. The PC did get infected. Easy enough in this case to wipe it out, but don't use a real working PC that you need.

i just got this message to sayin you have been selected to recieve a free best buy gift card. Just got to www.BESTBUY.p12.mobi within 48 hours to claim your gift. (Stop to End). i'm at college in keyboarding so i typed in the url and the schools spyware blocker popped up and google had no clue. Pretty lame

Called that number and it seems to be someone completely else then the info provided.

i got Best Buy text today. "You have been selected to receive a FREE Best Buy gift card. Just go to www.BESTBUY.p12.mobi within 48 hours to claim your gift. (STOP to End)" it came from 1 (915) 309-7654.
