Here is some information that I hope some will find useful. In Canada it looks like MagicJack is run by a company called Iristel. The odds are very high that if you get a junk call it came from one of these numbers. Now lots of honest people have MagicJack phones, but it does seem to be a popular choice with the shifty. It's cheap & VERY easy to change your number.
http://www.localcallingguide.com/lca_telco.php?ocn_name=iristel&npa=&ocn=On the page the link takes you to, find the Province/Area code you are have problem calls from. Click the link to the left marked "154E". This will take you to a page that will show you all the exchanges in that area code. For example, if you click on area code 613 (Ontario) it will show you all the cities & exchanges in that city. Example: (613) 801-xxxx (Kanata, ON) Exchange 801 of area code (613) is a MagicJack number. So if you're getting lots of Canadian junk calls these will give you a heads up on what numbers NOT to take.
This site will also take you to US #'s if you click on the "area code" on the right side of the page under "lists". An example, (202) 241-0xxx (a magicjack number) is run in the States by "YMAX Comms Corp.". YMAX & MagicJack announced a merger in 2010. If you follow the links to YMAX's home page, there is a big "Magic Jack" logo. If you're getting junk calls I hope this helps people find out what's behind them. If you get one of those magical "DEA" calls, search it here & if it's coming from a MagicJack number. Laugh the person off the phone!
Bookpark the link page, it is INVALUABLE!
