Display Name = "V" + sequence of digits

I do not know how frequently you receive "V" calls, but based on the ones I have received, I would not say that it is a hard and fast rule that the same calling number will have the same last four digits.  I do have instances where the same number displayed the same last digits on repeat calls, but I have had just as many where the same calling numbers "V" information ended with different sets of four digits.  In the latter cases, the last four digits of subsequent calls represented a larger number.  I did have one instance where the calling numbers had their last two digits transposed and the "V" digits were the same.  But overall, the "V" CNAMs only appear once for a given calling number.

More often than not the number associated with the "V" CNAM will also call (sometimes before, sometimes after, sometimes both) with a CNAM that is either: the calling number, a city name-state abbreviation or "CALLER".  It seems like the "V" CNAM may be a glitch in the calling equipment and not an intentional action on the caller's part.

I do not discount that the last four digits may be used as some sort of "Campaign ID" as I suspect they can be set by the user.  I also suspect that the default setting is to increment the number from call to call.  In any case, I do not think that the call recipient is meant to be seeing the "V" CNAM on their Caller ID display.

It's possible. Here's a sample number from my CDR for one of mine (number was in my area code, but different exchange:

    Sep  8 13:15:25 ""
    Sep 19 12:10:47 ""
    Oct  9 15:03:12 "V00915031000031"
    Oct 26 09:37:14 "V02609371400031"
    Oct 30 13:41:39 "V03013413900031"
    Nov 14 15:28:04 "V11415280200031"
    Nov 16 14:02:03 "V11614020200023"

    So I don't think it's a sequence number.

All the calls back to September follow this pattern.  There are a couple of cases where there is a longer number, but the "campaign" section is still the same, there just seems to be some extra digits there for some reason. For example, the CNAM might look like "V0301341390003156987"

It looks to me as if FLR's description is almost 100% accurate; but as "Tormenting Telemarketers" indicates, for October-December, the month indicator seems to remain as one digit, by dropping the initial "1".

I kept getting those "v" calls too. Different numbers every time. They are very annoying but I kept ignoring them and they did slow down. I'm not sure that ignoring the calls is the answer in every case, but for some reason it worked here. Don't worry, they are being replaced by other robo calls with caller IDs like "800 service" or "Washington DC" (the city/state calls keep changing every few months - I get calls from cities in California, Texas, Illinois, NY, NJ, etc.). If anyone has a way to stop them I'd be glad to hear it! I can't keep adding every phone number to my call blocking list, it's too much.

The last numbers of V-calls are the phone number they are calling from.  Block that number- including number one for long distance and block each and every call.   After receiving 5 calls before 2pm for many days, I began blocking every call.  I blocked calls for 5 days as they slowed  and the calls have stopped. PERIOD.  They may be giving me a breather and will start again.... but the silence was worth the blocking.  Hopefully, the machine counts the blocked calls and will leave me alone, knowing that they are wasting time.

There is an older, ongoing thread about this topic here: Caller ID shows "V"+ a whole bunch of digits.

A "Challenge-Response" type call blocker will block them...every time...with NO rings, even if it's a new number.

So, today, July 19, I got a call from V70617281200036 at about 1:34 PM.  Not sure there's anything suggested that fits.

Your 5 years late on asking that question, as this thread was created on 8 Apr 2013  and the other thread was created on 8 Sep 2011.
