Florida Bar sets sights on lawyer referral services

    ORLANDO, Fl —

Gary Kompothecras, the chiropractor from Florida who runs 1-800-Ask-Gary, is being held under scrutiny by The Florida Bar.

The Bar is claiming that Ask Gary and 1-800-411-Pain are participating in illegal fee sharing with the medical clinics and the attornies they are referring their clients too.

The third-party lawyer referral service is only designed to help people find an attorney but some, including 411 pain and Ask Gary, refer their clients to specific medical clinics as well.

The referral service and the partners involved drive up medical costs which end ups benefiting everyone involved except for the one person they are claiming to help, the client.

The Bar is having trouble finding witnesses to confirm their claim that Ask Gary is benifiting from his one-stop-shop arrangement.

Kompothecras plans to use the defense that no one is talking because there is nothing to discuss and that his referrels are all legal.

The Bar association won't give up that easily.

The Bar has new amendments in the works that will ban the referrel services from referring clients to more than one service.

If the amendment goes through, douple-dipping referral services such as Ask Gary will lose millions every year.

Both companies did heavy advertising on television in my area (and the Gary number had naming rights to the amphitheater at the Florida State Fairgrounds - since dropped). I have not seen a TV ad for either in the past few months.

We've had a glut of those 411-Pain ads a couple of years ago, with the actors dressed as cops saying "after you call 911, call 411 ... 411-Pain."

Anyone who has been a former patient of Ask-Gary's Physicians Group medical clinics...as a result of a referral "kick-back" by the law firm 1-800-Ask-Gary referred them to ...should contact The Florida Bar at 1-850-561-5780 and report this "conflict of interest" by their former attorney. It is illegal in Florida to run a "free help line" legal and medical referral service which is secretly, primarily only referring car accident victims to Gary's "captive" law firms that are then, secretly referring these new clients back to medical clinics which are also owned and/or controlled by Gary Kompothecras. State Farm Insurance Company filed a massive, fraud lawsuit against Gary, Physicians Group, and others...which is on-going in federal court in Tampa...and which claims that, because of this "arrangement", all of Gary's Physicians Group medical billing is illegal. If that is true...then every law firm who took money out of their client's eventual personal injury recovery, to pay Gary's unpaid balance of his Physicians Group medical billing, has violated their duties to their clients...and legally owes that money back to their clients.

I used 1-800 ask Gary recently when I was rear ended while stopped at a red light,11-25-14 my neck was hurt pretty bad and still is after 9 months, they sent me to physicians group in Brandon fla. which is close to where I live. They had me to come in 2 or 3 times a week so they can document my pain, more if I was willing, I kept telling them I'm in pain buy they never addressed my pain other than writing everything down and worthless therapy and 4 or 5 MRIs  which seemed to make it worse. They even did an MRI on my brain, this physicians group has made 10s of thousands off me but did nothing to help me.  I stopped going last month but my lawyer, Christopher N. Ligori wants me to keep going saying they have only offered 2500, and now they want me to come in for a deposition and say they are charging me 40% of settlement now because of the deposition, its a big scam, I got scammed and I still in pain, They recently sent to a neck and spine Dr, Dr Gary Moskovitz who after 3 trips has giving me 2 injections in my neck and wants me to come back for a 3rd, the first 2 did little to help but he said I would be fine, bs, my neck still hurts bad. 800 ask Gary should be put out of business. Its a scam, the lawyer must be getting kickbacks from physicians group.

Posting your email address here was unwise.  Thieves and scammers read here.  They use automated programs to find email addresses on unprotected website all over the internet.  Those addresses are compiled into lists that are sold to spammers.

I have asked the board administrator to delete your email address for you, but it won't happen right away.    You will be flooded with spam and scam emails.
