Yes, imagine that. Going after every creator of everything we don't like or that is used illegally. Why could easily go back to the stone age that way. After all, the first person you should sue is Alexander Graham Bell for inventing the telephone. That did start all this didn't it?
Seriously? If you could do that then nothing at all would ever be "created" again for fear of getting sued if it happened to be used for nefarious reasons.
besides, no matter what the caller does, it's still a phone call that generates revenue for a telecom company, THAT is the priority, not citizen's rights. Now we have corporations who are demanding access to your voicemail without even ringing your phone. Watch how much the current administration cares about the telephone YOU pay for. This will get MUCH worse before it gets better. As it stands, you are obligated to pay even more (in my case $100 bucks for the blocker plus a complex system I use to prevent ringless VM) if you want peace and quiet and the telephone you pay for to be for your use alone. Kinda like if you don't wanna die from a gunshot, buy a bulletproof vest and ballistic helmet. You have no more right to peace and quiet - or exclusive use of your phone - than you have a right not to be shot, stabbed or poisoned...
Hum!
Now, now, BigA, you know all this logic is too much for some people to comprehend.
This started happening a lot about a year ago. My cell gets several calls a day from the same area code and exchange. I simply don't answer. They never leave a message. The couple of times I picked up, it was always a robocall talking about debt reduction. Scum!

" The lose $50 " ___ they lose it to who ? __ Bull crap
phone companies have software and hardware to detect when a phone number is being spoofed; but phone companies would miss out on call blocking fee's they charge people. Everyone needs to get a class action lawsuit and sue the main telephone companies for fraud _ charging for something they do deliver. Example -- you go to a car dealership to buy a new car the salesman tells you the car has an 8 cylinder engine but it actually has a 6 cylinder: they don't make good on it - refund or a car with the correct engine size : you obtain an attorney and sue them. Same with phone companies ; they charge a fee for caller id and call block that is useless : it's fraud. Someone files a class action lawsuit and see how quick phone companies get their act together or run the risk of hundreds millions of dollars in settlement for the class action..........
Hey, since you have this great idea, why have you personally not started one of these "class action lawsuits"? Is there a reason you want other people to do it for you? Maybe you don't think you have a leg to stand on in a court case such as that?
Of course, there are plenty of call blockers not supplied by the phone companies so how do they make money off of tbose?
got two calls in the last two days with an actual person on the line trying to sell something to do with retirement services. In both calls they say "this is now available in your state". So I ask him which state is that? Both times they answer, hesitantly, Illinois. I say guess again. and they hang up. (I'm in North Carolina) I kept them each busy for just under one minute.
I have had my exchange many times recently and in addition, I have received spam callers from my very own phone number on two occasions. This likely explains why people call me and accuse me of calling them and hanging up, which, of course, I have not. Somehow, they have found a way to access our own phone numbers.
Voice Over Internet Protocol allows one to set up a number with the same prefixes as another, or online, even as the same as your number. If there is enough information about YOU on the internet (trust me if you VOTE in America then your affiliation has put your information - all of it - on the internet) that if they put together with your voice saying YES or NO to anything they can complete identity theft. Best to contact neighbor who has the same number and ask them to text you from now on and let them know why. You can then set up specific times to call.
It's called phone number spoofing.
You're replying to a 3-year old post. It's a bit late to tell them to contact their neighbor.
