800notes is simple a forum to talk about unwanted calls and will not stop unwanted calls. If you have the phone number handy, enter it in to the Phone Number Search box.

    Another
ridiculous post.. PRIVATE your post is atrocious.  We are not the ones calling you a like others have said use the phone number site.  Also what's 911 gonna do you realize you could be wasting their time away from an actual urgent call, by a damn call blocker and learn to use this site properly before having a meltdown this thread will be buried/locked and or delete.
    Have a good night!

Did you get permission before recording?  What State are you in?  You might be in more trouble than that caller and you just let about a gazillion people know you are a law breaker.  I bet the FBI, CIA, NSA and INS monitor all those recordings too.  You could be sue too.

When you post  and and fail to include the # , well then Nobody cares. I did once tell a credit card scammer that I was recording this call for legal purposes ( I was not really recording) and the guy got huffy with me. I said listen here you are the one breaking the law  with your scam , and I will record whenever the _ I want, Moron. It is not illegal to record , but  I doubt if being called by a telemarketer qualifies as a 911 emergency. LOL.

If the recording is legal depends if you are in a one-party or two-party state. Two-party means both have to agree. However, since the caller was probably overseas, I think that goes out the window-not sure however.

Thanks, that is a useful guide. I currently reside in a 1 party state so as long as I agree with myself I can record. I do not have a recorder but I often tell them that I do it  just to perhaps get their attention and often they hang up upon hearing the word (record). Of course I know that crooks couldnt care less about whether they are recorded or not as they have about a 99.99% chance of getting away with it. The only way they will stop is if gullible people Quit being gullable which is unlikely in a country like the US with 320 million people and probably at least 150 million land lines to call.Block or ditch the land line  and go with a pay as you go phone like Track phone or NET 10 from what I understand they Are calling Verizon , Sprint and other major Cell phone plans. So far the sacmmers are not calling the pay as you go cell phones.I have had Track phone for many years and never a scam call but our land line is assaulted every day from these scammers. Have had them all the credit card scam, IRS scam, Computer virus scam, Fake veteran or police society scams that dunn for donations. Time share scams , Automobile warranty scams. It never ends. The Card service scam is by far the one who calls the most. I doubt if a week goes by without a call from the crook called Rachel or her evil twin Carman.

Now see, I have a pay as you go cell phone, and I also previously had a contract cell phone.  Both phones received the majority of the scam calls.   My landline received almost none.  I had 4 numbers blocked over a space of about 10 years.  My contract phone had just shy of 300 numbers blocked.over a space of 5 years.  My current cell phone has 10 numbers blocked over a space of 1 year.

Land lines or cell phone they will eventually call them all.  The only solution is to make them stop is to stop giving them money.  In a country of 320 million with an education system as we have, that will be impossible.  Schools and parents do not teach kids what they need to know to survive in today's world, perhaps because they don't know themselves.

"The only solution is to make them stop is to stop giving them money" - very true.  Unfortunately, the only way to help offset the current education system is for willing people to consume time from the telemarketers, making it harder for telemarketers to find those without those survival skills. Every minute is another minute they can't connect to a naive person willing to give them money.

You can say it over and over and over again but it doesn't make it true.  I simply not and never will agree.  My time on this earth is too short and too valuable to waste talking to scum, not to mention the fact that I have to lower myself at least to their standards or below to do it.  As has been pointed out before.  if no one answers, they make no money.  If no one pays them, they make no money.

Your welcome, but I will have to disagree on ditching my landline. I have to have a reliable phone where I live because cell phones, and I do have a tracfone BTW, are spotty and iffy at best. Power outages can last as high as two weeks here. Their are priority's here, the landline is over the tracfone or a cell phone any day!   There are many areas across the US like mine. I don't get many, 2-3 spam calls a month and those go to my call blocking device.  Little by little, most spam & scam calls have gone to almost none existent and I do get one once in awhile on the tracfone as well, or the odd spam text.  Those are rare as are the tech support calls to the landline.  The ones that do call my landline seem to be the ones that use and abuse the same numbers ad nauseam, block the area code, problem solved for month's until they move to a new area code.  I haven't seen a medic alert in 3 month's now, and 3 CCS calls same number.  Can't remember the last time I saw a ADT number come up come to think of it!
