Caller ID shows as "Out of Area"

Called the number back, was answered by robo-answer.

Well, here we go again. Caller ID says ILLINOIS CALL.  Sorry. If I don't know who you are, you get blocked. So, this caller is now blocked. Please be careful out there, people. Especially with the holiday season here. They will try anything.

Called my number - no message left.  Caller ID was Chicago IL.

Yet, another one! BLOCKED...DNC Lists don't work...Because those who call....

No message. Caller ID said: "Chicago".

Received a call from this number, "unknown name" unsurprisingly.
What *was* interesting is that a recorded message came partially through to voice mail, offering more information that I'd requested, about a brace I'd seen on TV.
I'm sure most can guess there was no such request from me.  :)

I just received the same call.  I didn't request a brace as seen on TV either.  When I answered, they put me on hold and I hung up.

auto message they are returning a request from me on info for a back brace.  Got a human(from what dam 5th world country)  Advised was going to file complaint with AG of Il and Wi for scam and harassment

The Do Not Call list is NOT a call blocker. The DNCL is used by honest / registered telemarketers to avoid calling folks who do not want to be called. Charities, political calls, and NON sales calls are exempt.  Criminals ignore the DNCL. Obtain a call blocking device or app, and protect yourself from repeated spam / scam phone calls.  Call blockers work, when used correctly. Use your favorite search engine to find one. There are apps (some free) for smartphones, devices for landlines, and even phones with call blocking capability.  Owners of "feature phones" can set up a "group", with a silent ringtone, and assign spammer phone numbers to that group.

You are an idiot, since you think the Do Not Call list is supposed to be a magic switch, that blocks all calls you do not want. The truth is, the DNCL works, but your brain does not. Stop blaming others for YOUR mental deficiencies! How about buying a clue, and getting a real call blocker.  Can't you spell "call blocker", or don't you know how to search for one? It is obvious that you are incapable of understanding the words on the various Federal Do Not Call info pages, since you are blathering about things that you have absolutely no real knowledge of.

Caller ID said "Illinois Call" -- I don't know anyone in this area code, so didn't pick up.  They've called before, and previously tried to tell me that "someone" at this number ordered a back brace.  P.S.  There should be an option under "call type" for "scam"

That will not be a option ever. Too many would use & abuse that particular option and is a possible law suit waiting to happen.

 Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. For tracfone & straight talk:

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.
