- KS replies to BW 18 JAN 2008| 1 replySame thing happened to me 1/7, and I saw it online 1/9; reported it to Chase the same day. They didn't know anything about on 1/9; one would think they would have known about it when you reported it.
- tony T replies to KSI got one also Chase will investigate
Perhaps they should come out of the dark ages and and search for all charges from this company DUH!
Oh well what's a few thousand to companies that just blew billions! - MWI got a charge on a Bank of America MasterCard from "ID SAFE 888-2616045" for $429. Transaction 1/11/08, Posting 1/12/08. I called the number and got a voicemail saying "leave a message". I Googled the phone number and came here. I've called the credit card company, told them to get a new card number, and will mail in the charge dispute paperwork tomorrow.
I did leave a polite message to "ID SAFE" giving my name and phone number and telling them that I was disputing the charge and they could call me if I had any questions.. - M.Got the same thing on my Visa debit card. Unfortunately, my bank (JP Morgan/Chase) would not allow me to dispute the charge until it went through, but they placed a hold on my account and didn't allow me access to the funds. Because I didn't have access to funds, I actually went w/out eating for several days as the charge caused my card to be declined at the grocery store.
I have since closed my account and am going to be disputing the charge today.- Caller: ID Safe
- joebState Farm Bank removed the $429 IDSAFE charge from my VISA card yesterday.
- SB| 2 repliesI just saw the same charge on my Wells Fargo Visa. After seeing this thread I called back Wells Fargo and told them what this thread says and they instantly closed the account and re-issued me a new card.
Reading the thread I don't have any other common sites or companies other people do, so I'm not sure how they got the card number. The Bank suggested NetFlixs.- Caller: ID SAFE
- DPF replies to SBI also recieved the 429 charge on my Chase mastercard... Called Chase and they gave me the same 888# to resolve dispute. I called the Cust Svc number and call was picked up on 2nd ring... Gentleman (American)took my info, was cordial, apologized and said that my account would be credited back within 48 hours... Told me he didn't know how this was happening, but I was 6th caller on this problem to him today.
- kkmWe got the same $429 charge from this company - have reported it to the State of WA Atty Gen Office, and County Sherrif and our Bank. It's absolutely fraud!

- Fasttr replies to SBHmmm. I also have a NetFlix account. Anyone else have this common item for the ID Safe charges?
- KMAppeared on last statement, charge dated 12/21/07, "ID SAFE 888-2616045 NV $429.00" on my VISA. Called 888-261-6045 and got a recording, said to leave contact information and listed customer service hours as between 10am and 5pm EST. A Nevada company with an east coast time??? Canceled the card and turned it over to the Visa Fraud unit. Had charged 2 items on-line in the past month. It's the 2nd time in 2 years that I've had to cancel the Visa card due to fraudulent charges.
- docSame deal. $429 on cc to Safe ID. Phone number continuously busy.
Directed to this site and the explanation became clear.
How did they crack the card? - DPF| 2 repliesFollow up from my 23 Jan Post... I did file a dispute with Chase on this $429 charge - telling them that ID Safe assured me that I would be credited back... Believe it or not -I actually received a CC Credit for the 429 on 1/26 from ID-Safe - I was surprised - didn't think they would actually do it.. I did not cancel my card. Still have no idea how they got everyone's numbers. They are either totally fraudulent and doing this them selves, or someone has it in for them and shooting random numbers into thier sign-up scripts giving them a bad rep... However, I never could even find a Web Site for these clowns - odds are they are not legit - however, still amazed that they creditied me.
- DA replies to DPFJust noticed a charge on our card Sears Mastercard for $429 as well (on Jan. 11). We are going to dispute the charge. Never heard of ID Safe nor have we purchased any such product. We live in Vermont and have made very few purchases with the card over the past couple months - so I would be interested in how they got our number.
- dthogey| 1 replyI am in Michigan and on Jan 7th I was charged $429 from ID safe. After trying to call several times I googled the number and ended up here. I then called my credit card company to dispute the charge. The agent told me that whoever made the charge had to have all of my info (full card number, expiration date, and the security code on the back). I would love to know who this is and how they got all the numbers needed to make a charge like this.
- Kathy replies to dthogeyDon't you think it's strange that when you call the credit card company about this ID Safe charge that they try to sell you thier own ID protection plan. Yep, I got charged on 12/31/07. Just got my bill today. Am a senior in Michigan
- dbMy Chase United Milage Plus card was charge Jan 7 for $429. Mysterious General Merchandise charge. Name of merchant is ID Safe. No answer when I tried to contact the 888 number. Called Chase to start fraudulent charge process. Chase acted like they never heard of this, and are reluctantly investigating. And Chase of all people tried to sell me an ID theft program!
Live in CA, and use this card very little. Will cancel card if I ever get off hold with Chase! - TNHELLION| 1 replyThese sleaze-balls billed my Mastercard for $429.00 on 1/23/08 for "general merchandise". 888 number had tremendous static and I immediately suspected fraud. Typed in their phone # and found this site. I seldom use this card, but have on occasion charged stuff from Amazon.com. Customer service rep at MC didn't seem to recognize this scam.
- UURH replies to TNHELLIONI also was billed $429 on my Advanta Mastercard on 1/10 from ID Safe 888-261-6045 NV. I also made recent charges at Amazon.com. I reported charges as fraud on 1/29.
