- JulieWe got charged $429 in Minnesota. Number is invalid. Did your credit card companies reverse the charges? Did anyone have more than one credit card charged?
- Mark3/19/08 Identity Protect they first charged $1.00 to see if the number was valid on the 18th and then on the 19th they charged $429. Screwed my account all up since this was my bank account card and caused all kinds of over draft fees since this is the same time as when all my normal bills were being taken care of. But lucky my bank is helping out and being cool about it. I didnt receive a phone call but on my account history this 1-888-261-6045 number came up and it was in NV.
- MissyI never recieved a call from these a**holes, but had my checking account debited on the 18th twice, once for $1.00, that said ID Safe, then minutes after that, another one for $395.00, using 'United Medical Supplies'. What I find as VERY ODD, is I had virtually no money in my account, and had just transferred money into the account to pay bills. I'm in Washington state, anyone else? The number they gave for the $395.00 debit was 888-457-4304, I called several times, and got "ID Safe",then "Identification Protection Services", both same young man's voice on recording. Finally, on the 20th, I got a hold of 'Greg' and he said the fee was for ID theft protection, I asked why it was billed as a medical supplier then, he said they sell both! I told him this was not authorized, I want my money back! (my card was already cancelled, so whatever!) He said I'd get a refund in 5-7 days, I asked for a confirmation number, he tossed out, "R07 volunteer refund", without much thought at all. Then, last night I notied the $1.00 debit charge had a different 800 number, 800-865-1164, so I called and got merchant card services, they told me they had gotten over 100 calls that day, asking about the fraudulent charges. Yep, my account looks like a war zone, overdraft fees, returned online bill pays, you name it. The bank is working on it, but until it's resolved, I am going crazy trying to rack my mind on how they knew to take money that night. In response to the person asking about the account numbers matching our cards, no, mine didnt match our debit card at all.

- MissyI just called the Nevada state attorney's office, left a detailed message requesting a call back, regardless. Everyone should call, I even sent an email to the local news media here in Washington, we need to get this out to the public, some people wont even notice the charges until they start bouncing checks or get their statements in the mail!!

- msNo call, but I noticed two charges on my B of A account for $429 and $1, under the description of Identity Protection. Called the #, got a busy signal. I've cancelled the card and filed a fraud claim with B of A who will dispute the charges.
- vic| 1 replyI just logged into my online banking account and noticed i got hit, i have a 1 dollar charge from "identity protect" then minutes later a 395 dollar charge from "United Medical Discount" tried calling both number associated with the charges and got fast busy signals like the numbers have been disconnected, never got a phone call or anything.. just called my bank and canceled the card and they are investigating the charges..
- SueD replies to vicI just realized that I was hit on 3-19 by Identity Protect. I have cancelled my card and am being refunded the $429 charge. However, I don't understand that since there are 7 pages of blogs about these occerences starting in December that it has not been stopped.
It took persisitence on my part to figure it out. I feel badly for the folks who do not realize it is happening. - Missy| 1 replyI just spoke to the Sr. Deputy Attorney in Nevada and he was more than willing to help out on this fraud case, but he said he's getting hesitation from the banks, they wont release the routing or account number that is receiving the credit. He said he's trying to find out who is the processing bank, and thats where the info is on who these people are. I am filing a police report today and hopefully my bank will be forthcoming with me, as to the processing banks info. He said once the processing bank receives fraud complaints, they will no longer allow this account to debit our credit cards or debit cards. I'll keep you posted on what I can come up with here.
- RyanCiti Cards called me today. They said they found fraud on my account. a $1.00 charge from a company called Identity Protect out of Reno Nevada. Immediately after the $1.00 charge was a $429.00 charge. Card reported stolen now (day before I go on vacation) and must wait a week for the new card! Citi Cards will take care of everything (including any finance charges) associated with this fraudulent transaction.
- Steve replies to MissyNoticed a $429.00 charge this morning from-posted 3/24 and another for $1.00 later day. Citizens Bank said it looks like the dollar charge was to see if they could do it again or if the account was closed ect. I filled out affidavit of fraud and have contacting RI State Police and Atty General.
- KellyI've been battling these guys since January. Citibank keeps trying to close my account but I refuse to let these jerks win. I don't recall ever dealing with these people and am not sure how they got my CC info but I am extremely pissed off. The first charge was in January which I disputed. Then they hit me again on 3/6, 3/21 and 3/24. I have disputed all the charges and am going to do so until Citibank takes some action besides wanting to cancel my credit card. I have no sympathy for lazy banks.
- ToddTodd from Washington State.
Just got hit last night. First was the $1.00 then the $495.00. - Brian TI was also billed $429 on my Wells Fargo Visa twice. It was credited back once. No luck when I called the number, just a busy signal. I sent a dispute letter to Wells and have called them numerous times--I've even referenced this site.
- MissyI'm in Washington also, Island County. I filed a police report just to see what other avenues can be looked at. See my previous posts.

- Vic(follow up to above post) 3/25/08-Filed a dispute with my bank against these charges, canceled my card and was issued a new one, also filed a police report for credit card fraud, while i was at the bank the customer service woman called the number for united medical and spoke to someone there.. and she said the lady that answered the phone was very rude and did not sound professional at all, sounded like she was at a house or something, a lot of background noise, she told me it seemed really odd.. anyways i logged into my bank account and the transactions have been reversed, i got all my money back.
- MissyYep, when I called that number I finally reached "Greg" and he answered, "hello?", no business name or anything. And he wasnt professional at all and yes, TV noise in background.

- AnonymI received 2 charges for $1 and one for $395, all about 5 days apart. Noticed it on my online statement after the second $1 charge. I am now on the phone with Washington Mutual Mastercard Fraud department. On hold actually, lets see if I ever get through.

- steveYup-got me again. literally as I was filling out bank paper work for fraud-the banker pulls up upcoming transactions and shows me they are doing it again but, bank cannot stop electronic transaction once posted. Banker tells me "it happens everday" & did not seem worried. Cards are cancelled-thinking about pulling from all banks and keep money in shoes...
- Alexandra M| 1 replyThis charge appeared on my card on 3/16, I have no idea who they are. I am currently working with my bank on this but not sure what the outcome will be the amount was the same $429.
