This number called on July 25 and today,  July 29.   No message.

This number calls every other day....no message.  Does not ring long enough for the VM to kick in.  Is anyone else getting called from this number?  Anyone know who it is?  Which scam is it?

Norwood group...apparently they are either a collection agency or they buy old accounts

They called me didn't leave a message. I know I have nothing in collections and a spotless credit history. The only accounts they could have bought are my credit cards so I doubt it. Maybe my mortgage.

I called this number back after getting several calls from them but no message. Turns out it is Northland Group, a debt collector, looking for the previous owner of my phone number. The Rep I spoke to was very nice. She said I would not be receiving any more calls from them.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

They call my new cell phone daily.  Since I have not given out my number,  I guess they are looking for the old owner.  No one is there if I answer and they don't leave a message...  I hate it!

Hi, not Norwood Group, but Northland Group. Collections agency, which I have nothing financial to discuss with them. Christopher Johnson answered my call and was rude, of course. Asked why I didn't want to discuss why they were calling me. I informed him I am well aware of all my finances, past and present, and have not business with Northland. Also, told him if he thought there was something I needed to know the USPS was still a valid mode of communication. He did say he would mark my number "invalid"

No, Northland Group is one company and Portfolio is a different company.  I have already detailed Northland.  If you think I am wrong, then you are welcome to post your proof.

This number calls my cell phone daily.  Refuses to provide any information.  Claims company is a financial company. Claims call is about a financial matter with another family member who does not live around me. Considering status of person they are calling about, can only be a scam call. Caller name: Greg Brown.
