- FED UPI have tried to phone 0198339999 as suggested by other people on the net but the message I receive is that the number is incomplete or incorrect.
A similar number used to ring some months ago but stopped.
Telstra should disable this service after 7.00pm until 9.00 am, the same times as there customer service centre is closed for !!!

- Caller: i dont know
- Joe Bugner replies to ggghhhIt is an widespread and calculated attack on Australian citizens by Bill Shorten and Julia Gillard, they are sending subliminal messages to everyone in Australia to brainwash you into thinking they are doing great. And that we should treble our refugee intake. Relax though. ASIO are onto it and the Governor General Marie Bashir is in the process of vetoing them. and putting them before the full bench of the high court. Trust me I know, I work for the DEPARTMENT.
Do NOT Listen to the talking TEXT. it will over power you thoughts and consume you. This is what they want. They have employed Harvard and Mensa Psychologists to develop this message so that it reaches the root bank of the left hemisphere of your brain...... a.k.a. the internal thought register of the medulla. This is a targeted attack on the general populace and must be exposed.
Do NOT LISTEN HANG UP IMMEDIATELY.
WARN EVERYBODY!!!! - argeeLast night from about 6pm this number started ringing. Some garbled message came through. The number kept ringing every 10 mins or so until I pulled the phone out of the wall. Interestingly, when you try to hang up, the number does not disconnect. When I plugged the phone back in this morning, it started up again. :( Any advise from anyone? My carrier aapt doesn't seem to care!
- CharlieYeah - same deal - I get called by this number but there is never anyone there. I find it hard to believe that Telstra would be so incompetent as to allow talking texts just to disappear and leave the impression that this is nothing more than another nuisance call.
If these calls were really genuine then surely Telstra would have the commonsense and courtesy to inform their customers of the situation.- Call type: Prank
- Alan from Telstra replies to Bob & Joyce Tuxford0198339100 is Telstra's Talking Text service
If you receive a call from this number it is someone trying to send you an SMS.
If you have SMS capable equipment, T-hub or SMS capable handset, it will be able to receive the message, otherwise it will read the SMS out to you using a computerised voice.
When you pick up the phone, say something to trigger the delivery otherwise it will start in about 5 seconds.
It will tell you how many SMS messages there are in the opening greeting then begin playing the first message.
After it has read out each message it will read out the senders phone number and the time/date it was sent.
During the message being read out you can press:
1 to replay the message
2 to reply to the message
5 to delete the message
6 to go to next message ( it will automatically delete the previous message )
Once all messages have been delivered you will be given the option to go into settings
In Setting you can:
Change the number of rings until it hangs up - you can set this just short of when an answering machine answers just in case you don't want the messages on your answering machine.
Set all deliveries to Talking Text - just in case you have an SMS capable phone but want the messages read out to you.
Change the time the messages stop delivering at night and begin delivering in the morning.
Set the service to deliver 24 hours
The service wil also do its best to translate SMS acronyms like LOL, ROFL AAMOF :) :-( etc
Don't send emoji or emoticons.
If you are sending from a mobile to a fixed number, make sure you inlcude the area code in the number you are sending to.
If you are with Telstra, you can dial 019833999 to access pending messages or change the settings.

I CAN NOT get back through on 0198 339 999; recorded message saying the number is either incomplete or incorrect.
How do I stop this? How is this a plan by the Gillard Government if there is no message?
Can some one help me stop these calls, it is getting rediculous.
Thanks for any suggestions!- Caller: Optus
- ChrisThese a#@%holes are giving me grief --- if this is telstra they need a big rev up.....
- Bee replies to jessThank you so much for that...
The crazy thing was is that my service is with another provider (iinet) and yet I work for Telstra myself and was not aware that this could happen to me as I am not with them (this is usually a telstra only service).
Really appreciate your share! - MarkIt's not a prank call guys. Apparently this is the number that appears when someone tries to send a text message to a landline. I thought it was an overseas number and let it go through to my fax instead. The Telstra service converted the SMS to a fax message instead and the SMS was from someone I had tried to call about 20 minutes prior.

- NaomiI have been receiving lots of these phone calls at all hours - even through the night, some saying "what is your name" "who are you" "what sport do you play". Today I let it go to message bank as it was the 019 833 9100 number again. When I listened to my messages it came up with you have received a talking text message from 0474 xxx xxx (a mobile) at 7:05pm and the message was "why don't you talk to me". I rang the number and got their message bank (no name) and left a message asking then no to keep sending me these messages as I am not enjoying being woken at all hours. A few moments later the person called back - sounded like a child or someone with a speech impediment - and they had no idea that their phone was calling my landline. I asked them to look into it and then said bye. Now the waiting game - will it stop?????
