something from at&t claiming that i should select 'ok' when prompted to install a free software update.

This was a text message, not a direct call.

I received the same message 4 times over the past three days.  I called AT&T and, if you can believe this, they said they didn't really know where it was coming from but that I should go ahead and click okay if I actually ever get the follow up message that actually asks me if I want to install the update.  Yeah, right ... sounds like they really know what's going on.  Personally, I won't do so unless and until someone knucklehead at AT&T can actually tell me where from within AT&T it is actually coming from.

I actually got the same text ... 2am and 5am last night - I don't know what to do , it doesn't seem like it's from AT&T though.

"FREE MSG: AT&T is providing a free software update for your phone.  When promted to install the update, please select OK. Thank You."

Maybe I'll see if the text is showing up as free or not, hopefully that will help.

Have gotten same call yesterday 4am and 11:30am today, but no prompt to install anything, yet...

I got the same message, and just now did the update...it went through a reboot phase with some update loading bar.  As far as I can see nothing changed on my phone.

I have been getting this text for the last few days. Once the update showed up on my screen I could only select "ok" or "postpone." I finally decided to call an AT&T operator. After checking the model of my phone and searching updates on the computer, the operator verified that it is a legitimate update. Though it turned out legitimate for me, I suggest calling AT&T for confirmation any time an unknown number texts you for a download.

I got a text from this number too and now I keep getting a message saying that I need to install the updates and that my phone will shut down and reboot causing me to lose some data and for me to write down all my information before the install???  Att knows nothing about this when I called them.

I got a text from 1111487600 about a software update.   111 is a internet phone messege from  nigeria. I have ran checks on other 111 nunbers and thats where there from. Att dont use 111 numbers.  Its probably  someone fishing for a way to get into your phone.
