    Just got call on land line. I did not answer and they left no message. That is a good sign that it is a telemarketer (scam) call.  If it is important they should leave a message.

    Lots of calls from these 1-201-243-3XXX numbers. In fact 5 this week. I block them and then they come up with another exchange. They never leave a message and I never answer.

    The caller ID said "Retention Dept" .  I didn't pick up and they left no message.  I get 15 -20 calls every day from various companies that either lie by calling themselves "Billing Dept", "Customer Service"or as "Private Caller", "Out of Area" or "Unavailable."  The only one who ever leaves a message is "Rachel from Card Services with a courtesy call "who for at least two years has said this is my last chance to lower my interest rate.  I am sick of all of this.  Can't we get an opt in rather than opt out?

    They have called 4 times today.  I let the answering machine pick up and they don't leave a message.  The caller ID says "Retention Dept."  I once heard about a device that would play the tones that the telco plays when you call a disconnected number.  Supposedly the robo callers recognize the tones and take your number out of their database.  I want one.  Has anyone tried this?  Where are they sold?

    Hi, Brad. Yes, I  tried that disconnected tone suggestion on the answering machine outgoing message. It did not work for me and the baloney calls kept on coming. What seems to work is filing the report with the FCC. By the time the FCC emails me the notice that my complaint has been filed, the calls from the number I reported stop forever. I'm about to do this with the incessant "Retention Department" call.

    Things are getting entirely out of hand with these types of calls anymore. Its getting to where having a landline is a direct threat to your well-being and identity security thanks to these scammers, and yet, if you get rid of your landline, they will attack your cell phone. Hell, these dipsh*ts keep calling my sick mother at her home, who is dependent on nurse visits, to continue LIVING, and these dipsh*ts and similar types of calls called so often that the nurse stopped calling to setup her next visit and quit. Now my mother's life is in direct danger thanks to these freaks!!!

    Still calling once a day; I'm still not answering... why won't they give up already.  Caller ID says "Retention Dept."  They never leave a message.  

    Maybe what we really need is a law requiring telemarketers to leave a detailed message.. after three unanswered calls, they are automatically banned from calling again.
