- ExtremelyUnhappyAnother number for Income Tax scam. Said they had tried to contact me by mail first.
- Caller: Fred Hengst
- Call type: Debt collector
- IngridGot a call and message from this number with message of threats against me because recorded male voice states I did not respond to earlier request from IRS (laugh). Caller ID shows call from "Fred Hengst". Message very threatening and implies there will be serious consequences if I do not respond - by calling this number. Call is from DC - land of evil thugs.
- Caller: "Fred Hengst" - not!
- T.EThis automated message keeps calling and stating it is the IRS. When I called back he answered the phone Officer Mike Foster of the IRS. I just hung up on him
- Caller: Officer Mike Foster
- FKFolks,
The IRS never calls you. They only mail notices. Their personnel are agents and not officers. Ask for badge numbers and if they are 4 or less numbers, they are a fraud.- Caller: 202-241-0019
- FReceived call as above saying from IRS in connection with tax audit and that they have previously attempted to contact me by mail but has been disregarded. The mail voice speaks good English unlike many other IRS scams and says must call them back and not attempt to disregard. Caller ID is Paul Mason IRS. States in call name is Michael Foster.

- MaryI didn't pick up because I know anything from 202 is a scam call meant to look like Washington, D.C...... but I heard a male recorded voice speaking over my outgoing recorded message. Couodn't make out the message, not important anyway.
Silly boy.- Caller: "Paul Mason IRS"
- Call type: Telemarketer
- MaryJust out of curiousity, I called the number back from my prepaid cell phone, which is not attached to my identity or personal information. Folks, this guy isn't even in the States, and it's a very poor connection to a spoofed number. An odd accent, too... recording said it was Michael Foster... It almost sounded like an accent from the Middle East, more like a Hindi accent, but the CID had said Paul Mason. Both sound like fabricated names that a foreign amateur scammer would think are typical white American male names. And that isn't what the CID would say anyway, if it was the real IRS. The IRS is well-insulated and doesn't do that sort of stuff, they wouldn't give out information on a message by phone that anyone could hear. They contact you by US Mail. You can't even get ahold of them when you need them for a valid inquiry! Even the Federal Information 800 number is impossible to reach nowadays and the recording advises you find a different mode of communication.
"Back in the day," when I was still naive and tried to be a "good little citizen" and report this kind of IRS scam to them, thinking they actually cared, I found out you can't reach them no matter what the reason. I then tried to get direction from the local FBI office, who rudely hung up on me. They don't give a damn, either. So I grew up, and stopped. Now I am older and wiser, these criminals are always a step ahead of the IRS behemoth anyway and it's the IRS's problem, not ours. Leave it alone, ignore the caller and move on. And warn people here!
I really wish everyone knew about this website, it can let you know the scoop on poopheads like this, as well as let you know you're not alone. I would be willing to bet that if you answered and toyed with this caller (yeah, it's tempting), he would start to argue with you and revert to a little boy, trying to convince you he's real. But don't sink to his level, just hang up if you make the mistake of answering. Don't "borrow trouble."- Caller: "Paul Mason IRS"
- Virginia ResidentThis is an IRS scam call.
