Do not respond to this number it is a scam. They will tell it is the IRS but they are not

This is a Pakistan or India based IRS scam. Do not fall for it. The IRS does not initiate any legal action via phone.

As general background information, here are a few things you can do:
1) Report it to TIGTA under http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml especially if you have become a victim (lost money, gave personal information etc.). You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov/complaint (include “IRS Telephone Scam" in your complaint). This way you can also help the government establish specific fraud patterns.

2) Help kill their phone lines. The scammers use Voice over IP lines (e.g. magicJack (Ymax corporation)) to make it seem as if they are calling from the US. This is always against these companys' terms of service and can lead to immediate termination of their contract and blocking of their IP addresses for future attempts to register. Do a reverse look up of their telephone number (e.g. www.whitepages.com) to identify the Voice over IP provider and report it to the company and/or law enforcement (local police and/or state attorney general)

3) If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction and provide US law enforcement agencies with the political backing and the resources they need to work in India and Pakistan together with local authorities (it can happen, read: http://m.ndtv.com/article/india/ex-call-centr ... mmission-320427). A US task force has already been set up in Jamaica to nab scammers there (see http://www.ice.gov/doclib/news/library/reports/cornerstone/cornerstone7-1.pdf). They left messages to my voiemail with an Indian accent demanding me to pay via text pay voucher as they claimed I owed IRS some money.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

This is a scam.  Do not fall for it.  They will threaten you with arrest and prosecution.  It's completely bogus.  The IRS does not initiate lawsuits over the phone.

Its a scam guys, do not respond to this call, they will threat u about u owe them money in tax, do not respond to this call, and do not give any of your personal info and name.

Thanks for the info.  I got a call from 202-241-0406 and it was an automated message of a woman with an Indian accent. Thankfully I googled the number before calling back!

Thanks for the info.  I got a call too from 202-241-0406. Thank god... she has a bad english, bad VOIP service and looked like she was reading it from a somewhere. Thats enough clues that it was a scam. We cannot even understand her English to get instructions to respond :-). I work with many Indians here dont think it is even close to Indian accent.

I had them leave a voicemail was robot claiming to be IRS agent. I am a minor, and I know the IRS would call my parents not me.

I got this call (202-241-0406) 3 times today. It was also claiming to be the IRS. BULL [***]. Don't get sucked in!

Received a call from this number but was unable to answer. "Officer Amy Wilson" of the IRS left a voice mail advising I must call this number to avoid legal action. Since it was a "robotic" voice, employees of the IRS are not "officers" and I don't owe the IRS, I called back just to see what she might say. However, the voice mail was full so guess a lot of people do get scared and call back. The number is  a YMAX Oration Landline so will report this to them.

They said they were from the IRS. I don't have an issue with the IRS. This is a scam.

This happens to me constantly. I have several Lines and they find me. I had on guy call me 45 times and wanted me to talk dirty to him. I tried to call police and report. Thanks for this information.

Got a robotic female call today from this number.  Sounded like voice message was pieced together.  Claimed to be from the IRS.  I know several people who work for the IRS and they said they only contact through mail and never by phone.  Immediately knew it was a scam and googled number to see if I could find origin.
