This number called me about a state grant that I did not receive I also said they can not return my money

I received a call from 18005184726 they claimed the federal government had a grant for me. They said they were not a company, spoke with an accent and I could hardly understand. Provided the following address to me over the phone -

The caller gave me a callback of : 2022415068 and a grantID to provide.
Caller wanted to verify identity and I was reluctant to give any information that I do not give out publicly then the call dropped. I called back someone answered and did not sound as I would expect of a government agency, that connection also dropped and any further attempts to call the number goes to a vmail that says Federal Government.. This is a hoax, if any one has any further information on this scam I would like to know more about it. Should I actually call the real US Dept of Health and Human Service Grant Dept and see what they say?

I got the same call today.  Gave them information that could be found easily online, but wanted to check things out before I gave them a call.  Where are the police when you need them!

wow i just got a call like that 15 mins, ago, when they claimed the federal government had a grant for me. but I don't recall enter any rifle or anything like that,.....   and yes the guy have a very strong accent and started to ask questions that i don't even give to the bank teller, some one need to stop these.
my advice will be that when you call them back don't use your cell phone cause you may be charge for the call he made

I got several phone calls from these people. I Lost 500 dollars dealing with these criminals. A guy Kevin Jones provided me Grant ID number. I never recieved any Grant Money.

Consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

On going scam.  Originates in India.  Beware, if they hit you once they sure going to try again.  Usually with the loan scam.

Axiom:

If anyone with an Indian accent cold calls you and 1.  threatens you or 2.  offers you something, you know it's a scam and hang up immediately and block the call.

Corollary

Never wire  anyone money if you do not know them personally.
