Just dead air when I answered. Heard a click and then it disconnected.

joust got a call from 202-350-9771 I missed answering.  They did not leave a message and when I hit redial it was just a fast busy.

Same thing happened to me in WI. Very odd...DONT ANSWER IT! U many get a collect call charge on your phone bill or something! Doesnt it strike anyone add that we are typing comments about THE SAME NUMBER CALLING ALL OF US? Big Brother!

Got this call today, have caller ID so did not answer, did a google search on this number and found these posts, so figure I would say something.  Also got calls from FL and CO also, so could be the same scam, not a good idea to answer this calls, also got a cell call from Wash DC too.

nothing there, no click, or anything.

i screen my calls...got one from this number yesterday morning and today...i have nc cell number but live in alaska...there's a 4 hour time difference...so whoever it was woke me up! i'm not a happy camper! =o(

Same thing here.  Phone rang, no one on the line, and soon after a click and disconnect.  I wonder if this is some sort of automated phone polling system?

Yea, I am getting these here in San Antonio. About 5 each day.
it is a Cryptic Search site that digs into your files and and everything
else. But they are just the search engines. The feds and and other agencies are now using it. I tell you it's going to get worse. Spread the
word around. I've just contacted our Attorney General's and they are going
send a search team to find just who are the agencies are.

In san antonio, was called 3 times today. same as everyone else nobody on the line.
Google says it's a residential number in D.C.

Same thing happens to me.  Been getting calls on id for days from this number.202-350-9771. I called got the fast busy signal.  Did a reverse phone search and found it was from Washington DC area.  The id just says unknown caller.  Later called again finally answered it and got the clicks and hang ups.  This happen to my husband and me. After google and finding this site, I have email my carrier to see what going on.  If anyone finds out any thing let me know.

got the same thing.  although i'm not prone to panic.  just another something that's a pain in the rear

Finally connected with the caller from this phone number.  It was some "non-profit" group representing power companies.  The caller stated they were not selling anything and just wanted to ask a few questions.  the female caller (obviously scripted) asked if she could confirm my email address - to which I replied "No" they couldn't. At that junction, the caller said okay, thanks for my time, and hung up.

I don't know what the phone campaign is all about, but other than an annoying ring, no one can "get information" from someone through a phone call unless you're willing to press numbers in a phone pad (authorizing long distance from your number) or flat out volunteer them information.  My stance is NEVER divulge anything with a caller when I didn't initiate the call!

I am getting the same call too. I just did a google search, and the area code is Washington D.C. I also found this on 3 other web sites.

Got this call at 8:35 tonight.  Annoyed no one there rather creepy.  I hate these kind of calls.

My daughter answered the call and all of a sudden a young man started talking wanting to provide information regarding power companies to an email address.  When the young man went to verify my email address; it was incorrect and when I indicated that it was incorrect; the young man just plain hung up the phone

Wow! I am really surprised to see all the above entries to this blog over what I though was a stupid telemarketer.  I received the call today (Saturday) at 1:09pm EST.  After googling the number and reading everyone else's responses I called the number and received, "We're sorry but the number you have dialed is not in service".

Another good reason like the person above mentioned, to screen your calls.

These calls becoming very annoying. Some days getting 2-3 calls throughout the day from same #. Have answered once but no response from other end.

Crap, this is the second time, I've been called by this number and it seems, I'm not the only one, both of the times I answered and immediately got disconnected. But isn't there a law that says they can't call cell phone numbers? This is my second call, the first one happened about a month ago.

Maybe I'll call my carrier to block this number. Or is there another way to make them stop this crap?

I just received a call from 1-202-350-9971.I normally don't answer calls that I don't recognize on my caller ID but for some reason I did this one.It was a lady claiming to be doing some kind of survey about power companies.She called out an email address that wasn't mine or one I have ever used and ask me if it was correct.I said no.Then she ask what my email address was and I told her that I never give out any information over the phone.She then just hung up.I don't know what its all about but it has to be some kind of scam.
