getting calls from aicr 202-367 9064.....................who is this?

Calls leaves no message

Idiots call every day and leave no message.  I'm assuming from other posts that this is the American Institute for Cancer Research which is apparently annoying a lot of people with this same method.

They are calling me four times a day. They leave messages on my answering machine that consists of nothing but dead air followed by an abrupt disconnection buzz. I'm sick of it!

The text says AICR - which I looked up and it is American Institute for Cancer Research.

I kept getting these calls only I would get dead silence and then they would hang up.  I did *69, got the number, did the reverse lookup thing and it does indeed belong to AICR.  I went to their site, http://www.aicr.org/site/PageServer?pagename=contact and got their e-mail.  I sent them an e-mail saying do not call.  Don't know if it will do any good or not, but if they keep calling, they are going to get some legal problems from me.  I'm sick of it.  I suggest you all flood them with e-mails.  (Calling the number only gets you a recorded message with no opportunity to speak to anyone or leave any message.)

This number shows only "cellular call" so I have no idea who it is. Calling at least twice a day. Has anyone ever answered this number and talked to someone??

Been receiving calls from this number at least once daily for the last week.  If I pick up, no one's there.  I tried dialing back, and got a recorded message for American Institute of Cancer Research.

Well, I had to work until 4AM last night, and I got called by these people at 8:10 AM this morning.  Decided enough was enough.

I looked up their web site and found an 800 number to contact them (1-800-843-8114).  A person answered!  I asked to be directed to the line to be removed from the calling list.  I explained to the guy who answered what's been going on, that mine is an UNLISTED business number (I work from home) and I needed them to stop calling me every day.

He said "I'll look into this" so we'll see if the calls actually stop.  If they don't, my next step is to contact the carrier (Nationsline / complaint# (877) 879-5988) and see if they can do something.

I realize "charities" like AICR are exempt from the Do Not Call list, but they need to have some consideration for people and not use Robo-dialers that don't work and don't have a remove option.
