Omg the same thing happend to me they asked for a two digit code they said someone hacked into my google account and I was like wrf I don't have one and I knew right away this [***] is scam.. Dumbass ppl I swear

I met this guy on POF and he contacted me on the website we exchanged numbers, He said his name was KELVIN DOUGLAS and was from Amarillo, TX, but right now he was in South Africa, Nigeria because his mother has fallen and he has to go and take care of her. I started getting doubts about the conversation when while we were texting he kept repeating himself. Then on Sunday he finally asked for money, so he wouldn't loose his internet connection then on Monday morning he said that he needed money for his daughter when I told him I couldn't help he got very rude in the text messages. Then this evening he text me again and told me he was going to call be and I needed to press 12. He has called me 4 times and I have not answered. Please beaware fo this.

Annoying, harassing messages from an unknown number 202-455-8888

I got a text from 978-219-7587 stating "User #40168: Your Gmail account has been compromised. Text back SENDNOW when you are ready to reactive your account." Then another text came an hour later "Account #94561: Please enter the verification code -11- when we call you". I got a call a few moments later from 202-455-8888, which went to voicemail that states "I'm sorry I didn't understand that, please enter the two-digit verification code".

This is obviously a total scam and I wish they would stop contacting me FFS.

I got a call from the number 202-455-8888 on Pinger, an app. I don't know who this number belonged to so I decided to not answer.

This is a Gmail 2-step account verification number used to send or call with a code to access a Gmail account, that was the response I just received when I called.

It's a google verification line.

Got 4 calls from this number in two days. A recorded voice gave the same six digit number and hung up. I do not have an account with Google or g-mail.

Said that I had suspicious activity with my account and that my account was hacked, hijacked or breached and needed to give my number and receive an activation code. The # that called back was 202-455-8888 and was automated with my new account code. I also had to change passwords and was advised to run a Malware and Virus scan.

The # is legit if in regards to Gmail or YouTube. I will post a follow-up IF I have viruses or more calls come from this number or numbers almost identical. Could be a good way to get your personal phone number when a person refuses to volunteer it willingly!

Appears NSA info gathering / tampering. (Being facetious; NOT!)

I did not have to enter any two digit codes or anything else... I was locked out of YouTube and I could either create a new YouTube account and email or enter my phone #, I used a landline number and got a automated code from 202-455-8888. I then changed my password once I was back in YT.  I don't use Gmail... but I do use it to give as an email dump rather than my real address or ISP provider.

I just got a call from this number 2 days ago. Who ever is using this number is phishing. I have tons of medical debt in collections and only because of Federal Student Financial Aid, can I use any credit at all. Obviously, nobody did their homework before attempting fraud on me. I have 0 plans to use the credit and banking system outside of receiving benefits from Uncle Sam, so it would be pretty easy to track if there was fraud in my name. 202-455-8888 is clearly an idiot who will be caught soon. The more we post, the more there is to look into later.

OK, so I found this number in the voicemail log of my husbands phone (yeah yeah I know I'm an [***] for looking but unfortunately he has given me reason to do so...and yes, he knows I check from time to time), anyway, there was a 5 second completely blank message from that number so I checked google and came across this forum and a few other places say something similar. Then I decided to plug the following into google search...."escort, 202-455-8888"....um, yeah this number is associated with a whole bunch of ad's placed by escorts.  Some are very recent ads...like 3 days ago recent and they go back a ways too.

So....is it google verification or is it the means in which one would solicit services from [***]?  I really hope it's google...
