- SusanI recieved a call from someone with a heavy non-English accent insisting there are serious descrapancies with my taxes and insisting I call immediately to a Damon Marshall at 202 506-9650. He (of course) refused to give me someone else with whom I could speak (without the accent) and refused any other information, going so far as threatening police involvement and jail if I refused to comply.

- JanieI also received a call from this number and was told it was the IRS. I gave them no information and told them the IRS does not call people via phone. They hung up. I BLOCKED this nmber.

- kelly| 1 replyReceived messages two days in a row from this number, leaving a message on my voicemail saying that serious allegations will be filed against me and I should call back. The wording was strange, but I decided to call back and the phone number either gives me a busy signal or clicks as if it answered and then goes silent.
- Caller: they did not identify themselves
- RonS| 1 replyGot a message claiming they were the IRS. I returned the call and got 'voice mailbox is full'. Must be govt cut backs or a scam.

- ToniReceived a voice mail message from IRS agent carol gray, of course no such individual, one, the IRS does not call by phone, two, this individual was illiterate. Could not speak English and they used legal terminology incorrectly. A piece of advice for everyone: never give any personal info over the phone no matter what they threaten. Please pass this information to everyone you know and love especially elderly relatives, unfortunately they are easy targets. The real IRS is well aware of this scam, they warn about it on the website, IRS.gov

- Keith| 4 repliesI received a similar call today. They left a message. The female person identified herself as an IRS Agent and gave a name I couldn't understand. Same message as others regarding possible legal action. The message had grammatical errors. I called the number: 202-506-4650. My first attempt resulted in some clicks and immediate disconnect. I tried again and an answering message, with no identifying info besides the number, said to leave a message. Then it was reported that the message box was full and to try back later.

- SK| 1 reply06/25/2014 - received a message on my answering machine, this is officer Heather Gray from the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C. -- something like obtain an attorney or call this number 202-506-9650 regarding an issue at hand, extremell sensitive time. Don't disregard this message and call before we take any legal allegation against you. Again, repeated the number two times. I called and got a busy, then it rant a few times, sounded as if someone picked up, then got a busy, third time someone answered and I explained that I had gotten a call and they asked if I was Karen Bale (or Dale). I said no and they should take this number off their records, man replied he was doing that right then. I have an x-daughter-in-law and an X-son in law who both are ignoring paying their debts, etc and they give my phone number as a contact, and I thought it was probably a call for them, or I would not have called back, knowing that I have paid all my taxes and there shouldn't be a problem between me and the IRS. I do not know how these people can keep on operating without getting caught. I plan to try to report this to the IRS. I did look up the IRS in Washington DC and several phone numbers were the same area code and the same prefix as this number, so thought it was probably legitimate. What a rip-off.
- Caller: Claimed to be IRS
- Isabella Nowacki| 2 repliesGot voice mail that was unintelligible the accent and poor English and absurdity of call ID it as criminal activity.
Today I picked up phone to the same voice. I challenged him and was told *you will suffer the legal consequences*.. If only he and the scum aliens that operate this ring would. Why do we have to tolerate this nonsense? Why doesn't the government shut them down?
Consumer warnings mean nothing to people who do not get them or to older people who don't realize how corrupt, dishonest and evil US society has become, or to the uneducated who don't know enough to stand up to this scum.
Demand our government shut these operations down. - TerryJust got the call as well from 202-506-9650 - inaudible message to return the call. I called and got another message that the person at the number was unavailable and to please try again later.
- NCI called back the IRS scam number 202-506-9650 on a pay per min phone I rarely use (not my real number) and pretended to be seriously worried. Then about a minute or two into the call I asked if he'd suck my balls - it was a very satisfying call!! I encourage other to do the same as we can collectively waste their time en masse.

- Enrolled Agent before IRS replies to Isabella NowackiI received this call on my message line. It was incomplete because of my outgoing message but said they were Internal Revenue Service, gave this phone number, advised it was the hotline to their division and to not ignore this call and to call back before they take legal (first time I heard was action, 2nd - 4th time I listened it was legal obligation) action or obligation against me. Then number was repeated and the closing was "Goodbye and take care."
I am an Enrolled Agent, enrolled to practice before the IRS and my actions are accountable to the IRS, and I know this is not how the Internal Revenue Service operates.
If there is a problem with the IRS, and they believe you owe them money, their contact is always, ALWAYS in writing, and there are usually several notices sent before they take action. They also tell you in subsequent written communications, if you have been ignoring the written notices, what actions they will take next and when.
According to U. S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, they are aware of these phone scams although the ones they are identifying are targeting immigrants or people with little or no English. But, this time, they picked the wrong bird. I am filing a report with TIGTA.
