- Blackchibi| 1 replyReceived this called earlier today, claiming his name is Dennis Richard from the IRS.
A quick Google search showed that this phone number is a wireless number, so I don't think I'll be calling back. - nhibiuCalled us multiple times about being arrested, etc.
- AJA guy with a typical black voice, but not american left me a massage presenting himself as Jack Williams an IRS agent who is trying to get in touch with me because of certain legal notice... I couldn't even understand what he was trying to say because of the accent he got and specific surrounding sound/noise as he was somewhere in a big lobby or waiting area at an airport. I got a similar massage several months ago and no one called back until today. The phone number is 202 506 9749
- RexIRS replies to BlackchibiThis is a Pakistan or India based IRS scam. Do not fall for it. The IRS does not initiate any legal action via phone.

As general background information, here are a few things you can do:
1) Report it to TIGTA under http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml especially if you have become a victim (lost money, gave personal information etc.). You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov/complaint (include “IRS Telephone Scam" in your complaint). This way you can also help the government establish specific fraud patterns.
2) Help kill their phone lines. The scammers use Voice over IP lines (e.g. magicJack (Ymax corporation)) to make it seem as if they are calling from the US. This is always against these companys' terms of service and can lead to immediate termination of their contract and blocking of their IP addresses for future attempts to register. Do a reverse look up of their telephone number (e.g. www.whitepages.com) to identify the Voice over IP provider and report it to the company and/or law enforcement (local police and/or state attorney general).
3) If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction and provide US law enforcement agencies with the political backing and the resources they need to work in India and Pakistan together with local authorities (it can happen, read: http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/ex-call-cen ... mmission-320427). A US task force has already been set up in Jamaica to nab scammers there (see http://www.ice.gov/doclib/news/library/reports/cornerstone/cornerstone7-1.pdf). You can use the following template for your letter (more powerful!) or email:

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so. - DavidI also got two calls from this number, which claimed that the IRS may have a legal action against me.
- Sick of this! replies to linWe are getting the same calls from 202 506 9749 and they are telling us to go to the local IRS office for tax fraud. First of all, why would I go to my local office for tax fraud when I know that I paid my taxes? Come on people, get serious and use your heads! The IRS is not going to tell you to go to your local office if you are in a fraud situation with them. It just takes common sense to understand that they want you to panic and ask how much you owe and then they will take your money. Just don't answer the phone but if you accidentally do, just tell them that you will take care of it yourself and hang up and go back to enjoying your life!
- Shui TsangI received a call from this party and stated that I owe the IRS money. I had my relative called back and stated that he is federal employee and wish to resolve this debt in person, but the person refused to give an address.

- DDI received a messege from Linda Brown's phone number 202-506-9749 but the person who was calling himself was "Dennis Richard" from IRS regarding legal issue taken by IRS. He said "Get in touch with IRS at this number (202)506-9749. I repeat (202)560-9749. Do not disregard this message, rather make it emergency. Thank you." with heavy Indian or Pakistani accent.
- Long Island, NYJohn O'Rourke from the IRS called and left the message that I was being investigated by the IRS and should call back immediately to prevent legal actions. There was lots of background noise in the voicemail and the person didn't speak very clearly.
