THIS IS A SCAM!!!!! The rep states the are calling form the IRS. DO not believe these people SCAM!!!!!!

Called my father claiming they were the IRS, talking about how he owed taxes from 2007. Father asked is this a scam? And they hung up. Definitely a scam

First the call was a recording that made the matter seem urgently dire and claimed was IRS. Asks you to call back asap the same # but last four digits r slightly different. I called the # that called me back and mr.Parker with hindu accent claimed he was IRS investigator. Tried to scare you into paying "tax debt" by claiming it was a criminal case already and you would be charged for fraud

These idiots are all form other countries. The inexperienced girl that called me said she was from the IRS and that there were problems with my tax returns from 2008 and 2011, and that I owed five thousand two hundred and thirty five dollars and fifty seven cents in back taxes and fee's. I told her that was impossible that I have been disabled since 1999. Also, I have an account do my taxes and that he was a former IRS Auditor Manager and that he would call his buddy at the IRS to check on this. She got very nervous and the man whom was
helping her with what to say started swearing in a language that I knew positively to be from India. She told me her name was Rachel Brown, not to sound racists but I don't think that a name like that is from India. She said that if I don't pay within a week the Police would arrest me and I would be in prison for five years and the fee's and penaltys would grow until they were paid.

Got a message to call them before legal action was taken.  How do I report this to the IRS?

I received a call from the above-listed number this morning. The lady requested I call this number ASAP to avoid legal action by the IRS.

Same legal action stuff. Definitely a scam.

Got a call from this number around 9:00 AM CST today (07/09/2014). A recorded message stating that the call is from IRS and asking to return call on the same number. It sounds like a SCAM !!!

TOTAL SCAM and apparently they're making lots of calls to many people today (July 9, 2014) because there's tons of posts about these idiots.  They should be reported/arrested for scaring and harassing people.

Someone called from this number (202 506 9812) claiming to be from the IRS stating I had mis-filed my taxes for 2006/2007/2008..  I was still in high school and not working in those years!  My mom called back and asked more questions and they hung up in her face.  threatened to garnish her paycheck, file a lawsuit, freeze her bank accounts, take her car....

Ya, just got same call, 7/9 and they must be burning up the phone lines today!!!  All a scam, but I feel back for the elderly people getting these calls, or the people who don't know any better!!  Wish these people would just get a life!!  So much for the do not call lists!

I received  a voicemail message from this number today. It was a computer generated voice from "Heather Grey" about an important IRS issue.

his is a well known IRS scam perpetrated from India (mostly Delhi callcenters, but also from Gujarat and other places). You can usually tell by the thick accents. Sometimes they use spoofed numbers to seem more real. Read http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Reiterate ... -Telephone-Scam. All others who read this, please do not fall for this. The IRS never calls directly to open a case.
Their script goes a bit like this
- Asking for telephone number from where you received the call (to check whether this is law enforcement or a scam-baiter, they keep lists of the people they robo call)
- they will claim you owe a 4 digit US$ amount because of tax fraud
- they will read you an affidavit with all sorts of charges
- they will claim the file will be uploaded to "the court house," an arrest warrant will be issued and the sheriff's department will pick you up in 45 minutes
- they will offer you an out of court settlement, transferring you to the "resolutions department (basically the same guy trying to  disguise his voice)
-  using your zip code they will guide you to a store nearby that sells prepaid debit cards (no regular means of payment will be accepted)
- they will keep you on the line, "recording" for evidence that you leave the house, go to the store, buy the prepaid debit card etc.
- they will instruct you to pay this to a paypal account.
You have been warned!

This number has called twice today already and I have not answered either time. This is flat out ridiculous, don't answer!

Didn't have glasses on to see the phone number of who was calling.  Oops!  A woman's recorded voice came on saying that this was an URGENT call from the IRS.  I was to call the number, 202-506-9812 and speak to an agent before legal action was taken.  I called the number back and asked who the phone call was for.  The gentlemen from India(???) asked my name and I told him to look it up by my number.  He again asked me my name, I told him the last name and would not the first.  He said that he would have to look it up and get back to me.  HE DOESN'T DARE CALL ME BACK NOW!!!  I am very pissed off :(

This is a definite SCAM!  I received a call from this number and they said they were from the IRS - Said that I owed back taxes from 2009, 2010, 2011 income tax returns.  They also stated that I had a judgement against me that the Courthouse was recording that day and if I didn't settle this debt, the sheriff's deputy would arrive at my house and arrest me - Please do not give these people ANY personal information!  These people need to be caught!!

Same number called and recording told me to call them.  Same issue.  I called and got a full voicemail box.  

Glad I saw comments below before calling. I called back just to see what the deal is. I spoke with a man with a hindu accent saying he works "with" the IRS Audit Dept. and asked for my phone number. I asked "you worked WITH but not FOR the IRS?". He responded - "it doesn't matterS, it doesn't matters". I did not give him my phone number but I kept asking him any question I can think of. He said his name is David Parker and gave me random agent number, blah blah. So, I asked him - "Is your name really "David Parker" but you have an accent?" He responded, "well, I am from the IRS...." After I asked him a few more silly questions...he just said..."It's ok" then hung up. HAHA!  See also message below from Ed on July 8.

This is the IRS phone scam reported in many newspapers. Female voice leaves message saying you must call her immediately to avoid legal action. This is flagarant fraud and falsely representing an IRS agent is a felony. Do NOT Respond. Report to the IRS and block the number.
