- Anon| 2 repliesThey said there's a lawsuit on my name and social number. Very annoying
- Dave| 1 replyThe caller said that there is a lawsuit on my name too as well as the social security number. They need to give more information when they call.
- not Michael replies to DaveIts a scam. If you talk to them they'll give you a chance to buy your way out of trouble. But you have to pay by giving them your credit card number or bank account number right this second.
There is no lawsuit. They want your bank account number or credit card number so they can spend all of your money. - CWG40 replies to AnonIndian or Pakistani law/debt/IRS scammer. Ignore the call and block it. If there were any sort of lawsuit being contemplated against you, you'd hear about it in writing from the attorney for the other side. There'd be a paper trail.
- GlennThey said there was a FRAUD issue on my Credit Card and they wanted my name and social number. Major FRAUD !
Never give anyone your SSNO over the phone.....NEVER ! - Hilary| 2 repliesScared me at first. Said I was sent documents in March by Fed Ex to say that I had evaded taxes got very threatening and said it wasn't the fault of the IRS that I didn't receive them, and that they could not send again. Then went on to say that the police would be round to my house and take me away in handcuffs! Kept saying that there was a law suit against me due to evasion of taxes.

- GarciaCaller with fake American name "Jason Smith" with a bad English with Indian accent. "Jason" said there was a warrant out for my arrest for tax miscalculation in the amount of $938.00. He also said that thye were a "subdivision" of the IRS. When asked if he was calling from the IRS, he said no but they were a part of the IRS. He told me thta police would be at my door within 30 minutes. I said fine, my account and lawyer would take care of it. He insisted that I do not have to involve my accountant nor lawyer. He offered to transfer to his supervisor for a better option. I knwe it was a scama nd went along and talked to a so called "Officer Jackson". Another Indian accent guy. I told him he didn't sound like a "Jackson". Later I called back the numger they gave me (202) 621-0014. Another guy answer. I told him I was calling back to let them know that I knew it was a scam and he immediately hung up...
- Alex| 1 replySame story as all the ones above. The caller was threatening my mom with arrest for not paying taxes. Kept pumping her for information as I walked in the door. I took the phone from her and he threatened me too. I told him I'll be waiting with my lawyers for his IRS cops. He wouldn't give me his name or the name of the company. He also accused her of social security fraud. I called him a scammer and told him I was going to report him to the police. Then I hung up.

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone. US mail only. IRS does not file lawsuits. Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter. But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes. IRS has no powers of arrest. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of money. IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone. IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments. Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement. All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals. All contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.
. - JoeyDrill replies to AnonI'm so used to these scammers I learned how to turn the table on them and scare the living !@#$ out of the caller, male or female. With this # they try and make you believe They're calling from the IRS, only they add two letters I guess to avoid the IRS actually going after them for pretending to be them. Of course the [***] said a warrant was issued for my arrest leading up to some sort of payment to avoid arrest. After about 3-5 minutes I told them I was an Actual FBI agent pretending to be who they named. I said I had enough time to tape the call and pinpoint their exact location! LOL! I pretended I was shouting out to other FBI agents to respond to their location immediately and told the caller to remain on the phone for further instructions. After making him soil himself I told him how great his wife was in bed, and a few other things that would make a drunken sailor turn red. LOL! So a word to the wise. BE CAREFUL! NEVER EVER! give info such as DOB, SS# Checking account routing number etc. DONT hang up!!! Mess with them!!! if you know they're scam artist, mess with their heads so they never call you again!! Lets fight back!!
- JoeyDrill replies to CWG40Dear Sir or Madam.
I noticed when they called me they do say they're calling from the IRS, but as mentioned above they add two other letters. I guess they believe they cant get into trouble if (caught) because they added two letters. However it's so obvious they knowingly and purposely along with intentionally do want the Possible victim to believe they are indeed the IRS. Man are they sorry they called me though LOL! I gave them quite a bit of my New Jersey attitude, calling them words that won't ever be found or printed in any dictionary in any language in the world!! Go get em!!! - Evelyn JamesSaid I was audited in January and owed taxes from 2008-2013. And that I needed to immediately pay or go to court. If I lose the case I would have to pay over 45,000 or go to jail.
