They say they federal tax bereau giving out grants

I got a call and did a reverse look up on the number and it says it's not a valid number. When I call the number it rings once and goes to a busy signal.

I got the call too. They said I get some federal grant 7000 dollars. They want I go to the Western Union, pay 200 dollar for charity, and when I did that the grant will available the same place 15 minute later.
Anybody did that pay and get the money?????

He needed my address and I told him I want to know where he is calling from - he says something like trant or qrant or whatever it was - difficult to get with that Chinese accent.  I told him how come he has a name Richard Stewart and he sounds chinese.  Got suspicious and did not give out info. Told him I will check it out and will call back.,thank God I decided to check this and found out all these people had the same complaint!  We got to be very careful and stay alert.

Called and said I had good credit and paid my bills on time so I was selected out of 1500 peopele in my area to receive $7000.00.  Gave me a number to call and a code to give the person I call. Did not do this and knew it was a scam from the beginning.  The accent very hard to understand.

I found out it was a scam because the lady calling me claimed she is from the grants dep but she couldn't even spell "HOLLYWOOD BLVD" when I was telling her my address. What kind of government employee doesn't know how to spell hollywood blvd for god's sake ? DO NOT FALL FOR THIS

I got a call. The person on the phone stated  i won a 7,000.00 grant. He ask me would like on a bank debit card or a charge card. I stated I would like in cash. He stated to go to the nearest Western Union. I stated that it is 40 minute away. He stated why are you trying to give me a hard time. He gave me a code and he stated to call this number 202-621-0067

I got a call from unknown number and the lady told me her name was Andy Johnson i couldn't under stand what she was saiding and she said she work for the government. And she told me i was approved for a 7000.00 grants she gave me a confirmation number and told me wind we hang up to call 202-621-0067 and i did. And than and other lady anwer the phone and she said her name was Andy Simth she told me in order to get the 7000.00 grant money i need to send 200.00 it's going towards a fundsing in pankstain. So i told her i didn't have that she put me on hold and than came back and told her manager said she they can could do it for 110.00 dollors she told me to western union it to her and than she said she meet some other name were she couldn't pronounce. And i told her i think this is a scam and she cussed me out and that was the in of that. That same numder call me back in the Thursday 12/1/11 morning

I received a call from this number 0n 12-2-11 from a. Steve with a foreign accent.  I just played along with him and told him to take the 200 dollars out and just send me the remainder,he could not do this.  I figured it to be a scam from the very beginning. Nothing in life is actually free.

What a bunch of bs! really! So everyone of them had an accent! Come on such a scam! The government wouldn't charge us to receive grant money! I'm reporting it as scam! Through www. FTC. Gov/bcp/edu/ micro sites/ phone fraud/report.shtml..... You can also call state attny general.

Hahaha! I got the same call today. I thought, why would the government hire foreigners to work in the govt? Arent you supposed to be a US citizen to work? lol! I spoke with a lady with a deep Indian accent saying the same. Funny thing was she couldnt spell Portland Street. lol. My sister works at Western Union and she said she had many customers screwed over by this type a call. lol. Thank God for Yahoo!

I did not believe this from the very beginning.it just didn't seem right. They have called me twice from the same 1877 something # and then give me a confirmation # and # to call...202-
6210067. I'm like Yea right like that's real. I had something similar happen 7 yrs.ago and i fell for it that time and I cashed the check at My bank and sent in My payment with was supposed to be for sweepstakes and I ended up owing My bank money. It was awful. These people need to be stopped. They are trying to rob people blind.

These [***] called me like 3 times in one day. All were clearly of middle eastern decent, with name like Mike Smith, Nicole Williams. I told them I didnt have a bank account and wanted the $7,000 in cash. They said go to western union. They hung up i called back, they said it costs $250.00 to get the $7,000 in cash and when I asked where the $ goes to they replied ''Africa''

I got a call from unknown name and unknown number from a foreigner woman hard to understand her also. she gave the 2026210067 and the id # i talked to a jacob and he said to go to western union and send 225.00 and to call and ask for jacob . i told him i was going to do it but western union was a couple of hours away he said to hurry that it was already 3:00 and they close at 6. i can get to a western union in like 5 minutes. now just wait for him to call back  and he will get a mouthfull. it was also grant money for 7000.00

Although government grant scams have been around almost as long as the government itself, the majority of the sites being advertised today didn't exist before the November 2008 election. (

Look-alikes aren’t the real thing.

Just because the caller says he’s from the “Federal Grants Administration” doesn’t mean that he is. There is no such government agency. Take a moment to check the blue pages in your telephone directory to bear out your hunch — or not.

Phone numbers can deceive.

Some con artists use Internet technology to disguise their area code in caller ID systems. Although it may look like they’re calling from Washington, DC, they could be calling from anywhere in the world.
