My boyfriend received a call from someone with an indian accent claiming to be the from US Government Grant Department.  He was told that since he paid his bills and taxes on time, he and 17,000 others like him had been chosen by the government to receive $7,000 tax free grants to be used for good purposes like paying off loans or home improvement, but not for gambling or buying liquor.  he was told to call 202-621-0315 and speak to Debbie Bennett and to give her his authorization number.  

Just for fun, we called and were told by a women with an indian accent that we should go to the nearest Western Union store and call back.  She said that once we sent our $190 "verification deposit" from the Western Union Store, we would received our $5,000 (different amount) grant along with our $190 deposit back within ten minutes.  She would even stay on the phone with us until our funds were received.  We told her that we would think about it and call back.

Again, just for fun, we called back and spoke to an entirely different women (also coincidentally named Debbie Bennett).  Oddly, when we asked her what her real name was, she hung up on us.

Although I got a few good laughs out of this, I know that there are people out there who are gullible enough or desperate enough to fall for this scam, so pass the word.   Thanks!

Same people called me too..claiming the same thing. They only asked me for $80.00...I asked him what his name was and he told me his name was Wilson Paul...lol, the next question I asked, "Do you think I'm a fool?"

I have been getting nother but harrassing calls from all weird numbers....the key is, do not give up your info!!

Wow! This is crazy! I got the same call. Ole girl was tryin her hardest to get me to give them $!90. I wish i could meet these people in person cuz all hell would break loose. Scam Artists!

I got a solicitation call from this number claiming to be from the United States Government Grant Department.  When I asked  what agency they said U.S. Treasury.  After that I lost contact.  Other people have also received bogus calls from this number.

I to have had the same call but *69 gave me this phone that they called from in NY 917-650-5675.So I Google it and the number came up and went to the caller complaint listen ,and file a complaint on 917-650-5675  and the 202-621-0315,And to let they know that it's a federal crime to rep as a gov. employee went your not. just some info for you on these number . I received the same call...these people  are really trying to get people out of there money. when i called the number back it just was ringing and than a recording came on telling me to call later.  so i called back and some one picked up i than told them i was at western uinon. she started to go though the process and i than said do u really think im going to send my money to some people i dont know. she called me a [***] and hung up.......lol lol lol

Funny! I got literally the same thing! Debbie Bennett, $190 verification deposit, $7,000, etc. This should be reported!

I went throught the same thing I didn't fall for it. I did get a bit confused at first with the first caller from the other # and corrected my address which was a mistake but I never gave out any,any of my financial information nor would I ever pay money to some unknown radum person with a forgien acient over the phone. It's crazy how far people would go...It is a crime to pretent to be someone from the U.S Gov and there has to be a way to report this and stop them! The first person that called was from # 1-253-232-7516

Omg I can't believe I almost fell for this some scam just last week someone called me stating this same stuff that everyone else saying in this site thank God I checked to see if there was a real grant like this thanks and good looking out to everyone that got the same a** wholes that called them hope the us government will find these pPl and get them for fraud hope my words will help others like me that almost got playEd
