Got that call and was talking about giving me 9,000 and started asking me personal questions I said shouldn't you have all this information already. And he replied he was going to eat my pu***. And wouldn't stop talking dirty. He claimed he worked for for the government.

Talked with a woman who said I had received a grant from the government for $9000.00.  Not being stupid I said YAY to her and she said I need to choose bank card, bank account, or western union to receive funds.  She gave me a confirmation number AL214 and said to call the 202-621-0443 and a Senior Account Administrator would need to complete the transaction.  I asked if she had an 800 number, and in her Asian accent, she said she did not know what I was talking about.  So I said ok and hung up.  No way I would call them and charge it to my phone.  I know this is a scam,.  I get calls  like this each day.  Now I try to answer the questions right until it comes to my credit card # or bank account number then I give them a false number and I love to see them struggle. I wish we could rid this country of the low life who does this.

Um, that was what gave it away to you? That you think most money orders go up to $1K?

Not that you were going to get $9K for free?

That would have bought a lot of free lunches. Oh wait...

I liked your story except for one part. You wished we could rid this country of the low life [sic] who does this.

These low-lifes aren't in this country to begin with. They're across the big pond, either in India or Pakistan, Russia, China... you might get the point.

As other poster stated. It's not the amount that's the scam, or the use of money orders. It's the fact that you are being asked for an advance fee. That's the scam. You NEVER pay money to get money. There is no prize, gift. . . nothing. I am surprised, as you work in a financial institution, that you are not aware of this scam.
