Got a call about a 7000 dollar grant for being good about paying my taxes on time, when I called this number back, no one answered and the lady I spoke  before with had a very heavy accent( spanish or middle eastern). They wanted a account number or a credit card number so they could "send" me the money in 1 hour. They kept saying it was not a scam and they could not send the money by mail because it could get lost or stolen.

I Just received a phone call,  and one last week, regarding a $7000.00 grant for being a good citizen.  I can't believe the called me on an Federal Holiday.  If it's free they can send it to me and if not leave me alone.  The phone call today was a woman with a very heavy accent and last week it was from a man with a heavy accent.  I say catch these people and send them back from whence they came.

Same thing, heavy accent, 7000 dollar "grant", no checks- give them account number or credit card number (??). They got a number from a phone book, we never use this number for anything. Incoming number was blocked, but when asked she gave us 202-621-0524 and claimed to be from "US government federal grant department", then suddenly hang up the phone. Clear scam.
